Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Nice shave Steve. I think I've only smelled WSP's interpretation of GIT, but I do enjoy it.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Its appreciated!

Journal Entry #7

This was posted elsewhere, and I forgot to post here (not sure why as this is really the place I come to online now...)

So I've decided to stick with the K Shave Worx Frazzled Kilt soap sample until it's gone. From the look of it I'll guess it will last another 3-5 shaves.

I kept the same hardware all around except for the blade. I swapped the Astra SP for a Personna Platinum. I'm still not sure about these. The Astra is definitely smoother for me, and it gave me the same closeness if not a closer shave. I'll stick with the Personna for the week though to see if I can dial it in a bit.

Overall not a bad shave. Half BBS, half DFS. DFS was just directly under my chin. Now that I think back....I may have actually skipped that spot on one pass...I'm not sure haha! Sometimes I get lost in the shave I guess!

After this run with the K Shave, I think the scent is definitely week. But I think maybe it's supposed to be. What I mean by that is, I think by nature the Frazzled Kilt scent is supposed to be a bit subdued. It's not supposed to be an overpowering scent. While it isn't overpowering, it does linger for a decent amount of time. It also pairs well with the Stirling Sharp Dressed Man, but being that their both based on the same thing, they should match well.

Journal Entry # 8

Tonight I decided that the Personna gave me more irritation than I wanted to continue to deal with, so I switched back to an Astra SP. Still using the same setup otherwise, I dove into my altered 4 pass shave.

Ultimately the closeness of the shave is great. BBS above the jawline and a very good DFS under. The downside is all the the razor burn/bumps on the neck. It almost looks worse than stubble at this point. I think it's half shaving over already irritated skin and half too steep of an angle. I thought I had it dialed in but I may have overdone it.

I also may or may not have given up on the Personnas too soon, but I can always revisit later.

I think I'll have to take the next day or 2 off to let my neck heal. I don't really want to, but I don't think it's gonna get any better if I don't haha!

As for the K Shave sample, it's still going strong. I think this is now the 4th or 5th shave and it looks like it should last another 3 at least. Probably more. Pretty good for a sample! I'm also really starting to dig the scent. I'm really looking forward to starting the WSP Gaelic Tweed sample now. I can't wait to compare the 2.

Nice shaves.

Sometimes a day off is a necessity. I hope the bumps clear up quickly.

Thanks Doug. Most of it cleared up within a few hours. There's always a little bit that lingers though. I'll be taking at least one night off, but probably 2.

Kind of bummed because I wanted to finish up the K Shave and move on to the WSP!

Smart. Days like that, I'll even mix in a dab of Polysporin with a moisturizing balm.

Good couple reads and shaves Steve, well sans the razor burn.
Good call on swapping out the Personna. None of the the Personnas preformed well for me either.

I'm an every other day shaver partly for this reason. Every day tends to just start stacking irritation on top oF irritation. Plus my shaves seem to last longer this way and are closer!

I've noticed the same thing Josh. If I skip a day or 2, my shaves are noticeably closer and seem to last longer than when I shave every day. Strange, but true!

Journal Entry #9

Im a day late with this one, and also am behind on catching up with everyone else's adventures. It's been a busy week of showing homes, pretty exciting though. One of my first clients had an offer accepted and I'll be doing my first deal as a real estate agent! But on to the important stuff....

After taking 2 days off I went back at it. Same setup. Stirling razor loaded with an Astra SP, Kingsley pure badger, K Shave Worx Frazzled Kilt soap.

As usual with 2 days worth of growth the shave was pretty good. I usually get a closer, more comfortable shave when I skip a day or 2. I still ended up with some neck irritation. For some reason I just can't figure that part out. The rest of my face was fine though and I walked away with a DFS+.

The K Shave may be part of the problem. Maybe it just doesn't offer the same level of protection of the other soaps I've had better luck with. It does lather pretty well though so I'm not sure. The scent is also really starting to grow on me. It still has at least 3-5 shaves left in it which is impressive. That puts it at at least 10 shaves for the sample. Seems more than enough to get a good read on the soap. Might even last longer than that, who knows.

I'm really itching to get to that WSP Gaelic Tweed going, but it might have to wait. Being as Saturday is Derby day, I definitely have to break out the Ol' Kentucky sample!

Nice shave with the K-Shave Worx, event though you might be having an issue with the neck area. Congratulations on the sale!

Good shave and read Steve!

Congratulations on the sale!

Usually this is cause by too much pressure and/or too steep of an angle. If the rest of the shave was good one of these is what I'm betting on.
