Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Good shave Steve sans the nick! Nice picture!

As far as SWMBO saying you smell like a ham...if she likes ham, that could be a very good thing!
LOL I thought the same thing when I read that.

Hahaha! Thanks guys!

Also, I am waiting for few spare containers to free up so I can start testing out some of the samples I received from Tim (Milkcrate). I'm very anxious to try out a Stirling soap, I've heard nothing but great things about them. Hopefully when I switch up this Sunday I'll be able to try one out.

....I also watched the Phils take one from the Braves tonight to come within a half game of first. Gonna be a good series!

This could be an interesting summer - it's got the early makings for a good divisional race. The Braves have surprised us down here in the ATL - this good start wasn't supposed to happen till next year at the soonest.

That's the same thing we were thinking up here. We weren't supposed to be this good until at least next year, maybe the year after. I thought for sure the Nationals were running away with the Division this year.

My sister's boyfriend, known as Gonzo44 around these parts, is from Atlanta. He and my sister just relocated back down there about 6 months ago. So needless to say we like to go back and forth at each other over the Philly/ATL matchups. All in good fun though!

Journal Entry #26

Same setup with the Fatip/Voskhod and WSP Bay Rum for last night's shave.

Another quality shave. I am noticing that this combo of razor and blade does not seem to be getting me as close as easily as the Stirling/Kai combo. I guess this makes sense as the Kai is probably a sharper blade. I'm still getting a good shave though, so i can't really complain.

I'd like to find something similar to the Kai's that don't cost quite as much. They're close to $1 per blade, and I haven't found them in more than a 5 pack so far. So no bulk discount either. Feather has been suggested as a replacement, but so far I haven't had good experiences with them.

I'm starting to really enjoy the WSP Bay Rum scent. The soap itself is a great performer, but the scent is growing on me. It's definitely different than the Stirling since clove isn't an ingredient. To me, I smell more of the allspice and lime. It's good stuff.

In other news, I'm looking forward to having 5 days off over the Memorial Day Holiday. Looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing! Maybe catch up on some reading since I haven't had a whole lot of extra time to pick up a book lately.

Regarding blade recommendations: I can't recall what blades you've used, but I think the following are all excellent blades, very sharp and smooth, and less expensive than the KAI blades:

Gillette: Silver Blue; Rubie; Nacet; 7 O'Clock blacks
Polsilver SI
Personna Med Preps

Just a few suggestions.

I haven't tried any Gillette's yet. But I have some on my list (all of what you named plus some of the other 7 O'Clock versions) on my list to try. I haven't tried Polsiver's either. I have tried Personna Platinums a few times though. We did not get along at all lol. I'm not sure how the Platinums would compare to the Med Preps.

Good shave, read, and picture Steve!
I'll throw a vote in for the the PolSilver Super Iridium also. One of my favorites. Astra Superior Platinums work well for me too.

Can’t help on a blade recommendation. I tried VDH, Dorco and then bought a 100 pack of Astra. They were in most people’s top 5, so I knew they would work.

Did you smell that one sample? I know you did ?

Still going strong with the same setup. The only change (that I forgot to mention occurred with last night’s shave) was the AS. I switched to Stirling Spice. Otherwise all else has remained the same.

Tonight marks the 3rd shave with the Voskhod blade. I’ll try one more shave and see how it goes. It doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of dullness yet though.

Overall another good shave. DFS. A little bit of irritation. Not too bad though. I think tomorrow night might be a night off for me though.

....and the Phillies just shutout the Braves. So a good night all around!

Good Read Steve I would concur on Astra, Voskhod, Nacet, I find the new Parkers a bit tuggy

????????

So far Astra SP’s are also a go to for me as well.

And of course I smelled it Tim...old man pants...????

Sounds like continued good shaves, Steve!

I've had the best luck with the Personna Reds, followed by Astra SP which are equal to Voskhod. Gillette 7 O'Clock Blacks and Bolzano's are also really good, though tend to be more pricey.

Feathers make me look like Sam Neill at the end of Event Horizon....
