My dear brother Fernando created the most gorgeous bay rum scent I’ve ever experienced in my life - this soap and aftershave are two treasures. The soap is tallow based, it lathers like there’s no tomorrow, there’s plenty of menthol in it, and the postshave feeling is so comfortable. The Prep’s scent somehow pairs very well with anything bay rum scented, it’s so moisturizing as well as soothing, and it gives a nice cooling effect. Finally the Frosted Bay Rum aftershave went on frigidly cold but with no stinging or burning because it’s witch hazel based, and its delightful scent has excellent staying power. Another beautiful three pass BBS shave that was so easy and so enjoyable!

I have to say Jeff, that your recommendation of this soap was spot on. I bought a backup tub and the aftershave shown, but the backup tub and the AS above are a different aroma and color that my original tub. Hard to explain but the color is darker, almost a honey color and the aroma is not the crisp Bay Rum and menthol like the original tub. I bought off the BST so cannot ask for replacement and probably will not use the soap and not sure if I will continue using the aftershave. If just the soap I would guess it went bad, but the aftershave smells the same and menthol level is half of what my older tub of soap has but I cannot compare the aftershave as I did not buy AS at the same time I bought the first tub. I may take a chance in buying the set from an online store when I get close to finishing this tub. Wait and see, but thanks again for the recommendation.

Great shave this morning! Returned to Moon Soaps and their excellent "Amaretto Speciale" shave soap and splash. Wonderful cherry / almond scent a great lather built with the Simpson badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, the matching aftershave splash & Dior "Bois d'Argent" EdC.
Another effortless BBS shave!

Me too I noticed that the newer version smells a bit different but I love it. I haven’t started using it yet because the older one I have still has a long way to go before it’s finished. The aftershave (to me) smells EXACTLY like the newer soap and it’s such a delicious scent not to mention how FRIGID it is. Not only that, the longevity it has is fantastic!

Interesting, the aftershave I have is of the newer formula you mentioned and I don't care for the aroma and the menthol level is about have the level of the original soap.
