SOTD April 2026

The Steel Overlander, aside from being a mediocre wrestling name, is a fan-damn-tastic razor. The Keyhole is #28 in a series of Simpson brushes of superior quality - im still looking for my very own "disappointing recent" Simpsons brush, but so far theyre all terrific. 6320.jpgNordost is an orange soap in a universe where things are not simple, as they are when sniffing Stirling Satsumi. As with all Barrister and Mann scents, its just not a simple, sunny-d kind of orange. Smoky, complex, like Monk's Blues. Not all notes are the right notes, but none are flat out wrong. No A.I. was used to create this post. This slop is my own doing.

Menthol Monday’s Superb Grand Freeze:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 2
Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Fine Snake Bite AS Splash

This Glacial Obsidian soap has always been a top favourite of mine - its scent is a lovely black licorice type, the lather explodes off my brush and it’s so thick as well as slick, the menthol sensation is killer cold, and it gives a wonderful postshave feeling that the Gold Bond moisturizer enhances. Last but not least the Snake Bite aftershave added another coating of icicles in my face. Another glorious three pass BBS shave that was such a pleasure!

Happy Easter Monday folks - have a great week ahead!

Beautiful frozen shave, Akhi! That soap must be pretty old based on the old label, but it still works well for you. That's awesome!

Tuesday morning:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 3
Gold Dachs Spezial SS
Lubriderm Moisturizer
Booster Mosswood AS Splash

This Gold Dachs Spezial soap from Germany is so elegant - it cost me a LOT of money but it was well worth it. The scent is so old school and beautiful, it lathers like there’s no tomorrow, it’s really slick, and the skincare is excellent. The Lubriderm moisturizer and the Booster Mosswood aftershave were a terrific finish. Another dynamite three pass BBS shave that I enjoyed from start to finish!

Wishing you all a great day - be well and stay safe!

Tabac Tuesday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Tabac Shave Soap
Jayaruh #425 Synthetic
Schick Stick Injector Razor
Personna Injector Blade
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Tabac After Shave

The Tabac After Shave Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #425 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick Stick Injector Razor and the Personna Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I’m in the same boat boat. I have six Simpson Brushes (two synthetic and four Best Badger) all have been purchased over the last three years and are amazing!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Phenomenal shave this morning! Returned to Stirling and their excellent Irisch Moos homage, "I, Rich Moose" shave soap. Fantastic scent with an incredible lather built with the WWBW badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel & Mäurer & Wirtz "Irisch Moos" aftershave splash & EdT.

Hope you have a great day. :)
