Soap/cream of the day

@bosch, can you give me (and others here) your impressions of this soap?
I have yet to try an SV shave soap, but of all their offerings, the Dolomiti sure grabs my attention the most.
The geologist in me begs the question of whether the addition of the silt in the formula leads to a slight gritty texture (as silt does contain very fine quartz, mica, and feldspar grains); however, the clay mineral component fraction of most silts would indeed provide the known benefits of the various clay varieties.
I understand that this (and all SV soaps) is a "hard" triple-milled, non-tallow based (Vegan) soap, yet I see nothing but the highest accolades of its lather building and shave performance qualities.

Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil shaving cream (vintage). Last little bit. But I have some backup.

@Granite.Glasser

It's my favorite soap. Definite desert island soap. I could use this and nothing else. Enough hyperbole, see photos below.

Did I mention that it's my favorite??

I have used 5 SV soaps. Dolomiti and Manna di Sicilia remain. As you can see I have 4 new Dolomiti pucks and 1 that I've just started to use. Also have 1 Sicilia that is fairly new. Artica, Alpina, and Felce were tried and promptly pif'd. YMMV.

For me, Dolomiti is not gritty. However, notice that flecks do appear in the photo of the "in use" puck. I am not a geologist, but I can't imagine using soap that is anything other than smooth and comfortable. YMMV. I only address this because you asked. I never felt anything other than smoothness and slickness during my shaves. Scent is light citrus/floral. Citrus is my thing: lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit. You get the idea.

I do follow SV's lathering instructions. SV recommends that you cover the soap for several minutes with hot/warm water to bloom the soap. BTW, I do this with all my hard soaps. YMMV. Then I load the brush, 30 seconds or so. Then I face lather, another 20-30 seconds. You do not need a lot of water after the soap is bloomed. Add if needed for your desired lather.

Face cushion/slickness during shave is excellent. Scent is perfect! (It's my favorite! :p ) YMMV. Post shave also excellent. Easy rinse. Easy clean up.

One thing that I find interesting. It's the reason that I opened all current Dolomiti pucks. Note the difference in color. When I first bought Dolomiti, it was dark gray in color. More recent pucks are more like Swiss mocha. The 1 puck that's currently in use contains remnants from its predecessor (quite gray). Go figure. Maybe there's a geological reason. Any comments are welcome?? Also, let me know if you have questions.
BTW, I really like this soap. (y)(y):p
