Late night shave after a sweaty day. I had been trying to get time for a video with the RFB but it wasn't in the cards for me I guess. Pulled the GSB from the Single ring since I don't plan to use it again in the near future and put it in the RFB. Had a very nice relaxing shave but I gotta say that while it is a little smoother than the new SC the RFB is nowhere near as efficient for me. Took a good bit of cleanup but I did achieve BBS.

Thanks to John @The Monkey for letting us try this one out. I'd been curious how it measures up to my New SC and now I know that I don't need to start actively searching for one, but if I happen to see one for a good price I will probably go for it.

Thank you for saying that Kyle! Another purchase safely averted!

Razor is in hand and I used it for the first tiem this morning. I will say for sure that this is the smoothest NEW I've ever used. Usually I use a NEW when I realize how long it's been since I used one..... then aftre using it, I realize why it's been so long since I used one. Too damned aggressive.

This RFB is definitely smoother, a little less aggressive, and no quite as much blade feel as I'm used to with NEWs. That said, this thing is right on the very edge of falling off into the too aggressive/too much blade feel side for me. I did have a very smooth shvae and enjoyed it, but I was taking a little bit of care wiht it, and I totally felt that if my technique slipped a little then it was going to bite me. I was amazed that I got through the entire shave without getting bit.

I was impressed with the closeness of the shave, and can see why folks love it. My 3 pass shave was just as close as my usual 3 pass w/touch-up. So it was a bit more efficient. Maybe after a few more shaves I'll get more comfortable with it. But as of right now, it's not a razor I would spend a lot of money on to add to my arsenal.

OK, BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front for you non-military types), John has made me a believer. I do actually like the RFB, anf this is the first time I've ever shaved with a NEW that I can say I actually fully enjoyed the shave.

So the second time I used it I was a little more comfortable with it, and the shave did get a little bit easier. Didn't have the feeling that I was quite on the edge of getting bit that I did the first time. I still feel like it could happen, but I'd have to really let my guard down to do so. Next shave today was more of the same, just really close and smooth shave. After using it for 3 days, I'm sold. Surprized the heck out of me. Better shave than just about all of the expensive modern razors that I've been trying. (sans maybe the Vector) Anyway, I wasn't even done cleaning up from my shave today and I decided that I wanted one. I PM'd @Dave in KY to see if the one he's selling was still for sale, and lets just say I'll be receiving my very own RFB in a few days.

Thanks John for the opportunity to try this razor and opening my eyes to the wonders of the RFB! I'll be packing it up this weekend, and getting it in the mail to @GearNoir on Monday.

Just helping John keep a rotation of things coming and going so others in his home don’t know actual numbers.

The RFB has landed! The box was pretty beat but everything appears to be OK. I’ll spend at least a couple shaves with it, make some comments in my journal/here, and video some thoughts in my normal weekly!

So I used the 2 piece RFB that I bought from Dave today..... it’s not the same at the 3 piece from the pass (at least to me). It had much more blade feel, did not feel as smooth, and did not shave as close.

That’s my initial reaction to it. Will use a few more times before I pass total judgement.

Sorry to hear. John and I felt it was the same. I'd like to see both heads next to each other. I didn't have them at the same time.

The heads should be the same but the balance is different. Give it a few tries to adjust.
I actually like a heavier handle as to make it slightly more aggressive.

Exactly what I don’t want. Yours was right on the edge for me.... so making it any more aggressive is a bad thing. I hope it’ll calm down......

I was thinking the 2 piece handle was lighter than the 3 piece handle. Like I said the balance is different but it should make it less aggressive.

Oh, I misunderstood. I though you were saying the two piece handle was heavier, which is what I’d assume... since the 3 piece handle is hollow as well.
