Ramblings of a MilkCrate

Tim - I need you to take a little day trip….

It’s going to be the new SXSW or Burning Man - I swear - and there is bound to be an antique razor or two there.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it - is to get a picture of you with this person….a Bohemian Cowgirl! She definitely looks like someone who’d be fun to sip a spicy cactus margarita with 😂

Pre Shave-
Strop: none
Scuttle: none
Splash and go

Shave-
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Shavemac Beehive
Soap: HAGS Hellfire Club

Post Shave-
Post shave lather
AS: HAGS Hellfire Club

The Deets-

I’m dropping my shave counts from my format. I originally used them to track my progress, but have enough shaves under my belt now not to bother with it.

So, my order of Hellfire Club was delivered late yesterday and I had to give it a try this morning. Hm … I will have to give it a few more tries. This shave was kinda meh and I had to switch from the Clauss over to my Gillette Fatboy.

My shave today had a couple of issues. First, my skin felt kinda … maybe waxey? Maybe I didn’t get all the soap off my face from the shower or something. But I could splash water on my face and it just rolled off and didn’t stick to my skin. That cleared up after the first pass. I then loaded my brush, but it didn’t build much lather on the soap. Maybe I overloaded too … not sure. Tried to work it up with a good face lather, but it felt off. Started with the SR and before I finished one stroke … nope let’s grab a DE. It did feel slick enough for a DE. Knocked out three passes and walked away with a good shave. But I missed the BBS that I am used too. The splash is nice and lasted for a good while. I would prefer the bottle to be glass instead of plastic though.

Not an awesome first outing, but things just went sideways. I will surely hit it again tomorrow and see if I can make some corrections.

Home Front-
Work is work. Still crazy busy, but I am hopeful that we will get things sorted and caught back up. I have a new team member and when he gets up to speed, things should improve. At home, things have been kinda low key. Life is good!

I wondered if you changed something in your shower routine or perhaps water treatment issues. I have also experienced this phenomenon.
I have a new shower soap. SV sent me a discount code for a free birthday soap and I ordered the Aloe one. It’s a monster size bar and I didn’t want to blame it prematurely.

We are on city water, but I’m not aware of any issues. Hopefully I get it sorted soon.

It could be through some genetic quirk that an errant amphibian gene worked its way into your individual gene pools, perhaps by eating frog legs at some point. The point is, this errant gene is evidently intermittently expressing itself with waxy skin. It is science. 🥸

So maybe RNA manipulating vaccines then

Today’s Shave

Pre Shave-
Strop: Tony Miller Plain Vanilla
Scuttle: none
Splash and go

Shave-
Razor: Clauss SR
Blade: none
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts
Soap: MWF

Post Shave-
Post shave lather
AS: Extro Comesi

The Deets-
I am trying to break my habit of blind buying matching soap/AS sets. If samples are not available, I will probably buy the AS to try first. If it’s a keeper, I will buy the soap afterwards.

In a post, Brian @Scuttlesoap had mentioned the scent profile of Extro Comesi O’ Selvaggio and I was curious. So I ordered it. For this shave I decided to go with the soft scent of MWF and round it out with the aftershave.

A very nice shave was had today. It was my Friday off and the shave had all the relaxing qualities one looks for in a shave. Three clean passes left me BBS for the win! Chased that with the new aftershave and everything was right as rain. Man, I’m digging this scent and will buy the matching soap. This one has found a spot in my rotation. Life is good!

I try not to sniff too much toilet water (that's english for EdT)
