So … no sniffing from the missus today. She is out of town taking care of sick grandchildren. So I just grabbed a few random bits to get my shave on. Three pass BBS for the win! Going into the office tomorrow … such fun. Life is good!

The Deets-
What a day! Had to go into the office today and was running a bit behind. I have really taken advantage of not commuting and was scrambling today. Between hitting snooze too many times and taking care of the dogs, I missed my morning shave … grrrrr. Went to work scruffy and I hate that. Put in a full days work and didn’t get finished. Got home and had more to do. Knocked that out and it was time for an evening shave.

So … I know I’m going the wrong way with purchasing a new soap. And I don’t usually buy soaps that are no longer in production. The reason is that I may really like it and then not be able to find it again. But, here we are with a limited release from Victory Shaving. This is the last production run before the company closes the doors … so there ya go. No rhyme or reason.

I get cherry pipe smoke and coffee off the puck and can’t pick up the other notes. I haven’t tried any type of food scented soap before, at least purposefully. I thought that would be kinda strange, but I’m digging this scent. And come on, pipe smoke and coffee has to have a warm lather. BOOM! I got the same scent when lathered, but stronger. I had it too wet to start, but it didn’t collapse on me. I kept working it and it settled right down whipping up a nice lather. This soap has some good slickness too that was giving me some grief with skin stretching, but I managed. Three smooth passes and I am BBS for the win! Very nice!

Wrapped it up with just witch hazel because I don’t have anything close to matching this. It has been better than 30 minutes since my shave and I can still smell the scent … good stuff.

The missus doesn’t need to render an opinion on this soap, it’s a one and done. Life is good!

Just an easy afternoon shave, I was lazy and grabbed the Black Beauty today. Man that was a good shave, I’m kinda digging this soap with beeswax, but I also need to try a sample of Sheep. Now that I say that, it sounds odd because I am all about the scents. Anyway it was a very nice shave and the GTB rounded it out nicely.

Kind of an easy day, mostly working in the garage. Thankfully the missus will be home tomorrow. And maybe the first few days of next week, I’ll have her sniff a few more soap/AS sets. I have more on the shelf, but have already decided that they are a one and done, so no additional sniffing required. I haven’t used a CBL soap in a while because I ran out, but I do like the Tonsorial and Master Barber base. I think I’ll have to pick up a set of Hombre and give that a try next. Life is good!

A very nice late morning shave was had today. Woke at 5:00a due to thunderstorms and worked on cleaning the house up before the missus gets home today. The grandson is showing improvement, so the missus should be headed home some time today. But the thunderstorms put my lawn mowing on hold for a bit. Probably a slow day working on a few things around the house and then I brought home some work that needs to be done before tomorrow.

After most of the housekeeping was done, it was time for a shower and shave. The Fat got the nod, along with the Ethos Lavender. Man that was a nice shave. An easy three passes and I am BBS for the win! And I am ready for the day. Life is good!

Forget to post yesterday’s shave. I had a really good shave with the PAA and the new Trotter Handcrafts brush. And this TGN knot has been really nice with soft tips and good backbone right from the first shave. Again, a very enjoyable shave and I walked away BBS for the win! So the missus finally noticed the new Trotter Handcrafts brush and was checking it out. She really liked the heft of the handle … I know right? And she liked the ergonomics of it … I know right? But she didn’t like the Badger, she prefers synthetic … I know right? I might have been smiling a bit too much when I said that because I got some side eye. Anyway, since she was standing around, I had her do one more sniff test.

So where does the missus stand on this soap? Let’s find out …

Love it-
Stirling Executive Man
Stirling Nag Champa
PAA Sangre de Drago
PAA AA Bay Rum

Like it-
Stirling Piacenza
Stirling Triumph
HeV Duc de Santal
Stirling Gentleman
PAA Porthos

Don’t like it-

So there you have it, the current standings. I will also add: SV Opuntia and MWF to the list of likes for me. That puts me missing my mark of 10 or less, but not by much. I still have several on the shelf that are a one and done, so I didn’t put them on the list at all. I do find it interesting that we both liked the same scents and soaps, but I guess those things may happen if you have been together for a significant amount of time. I’ll keep working down what I have until I get down to just what’s on the list and then go from there. Life is good!
