Oz Shaving Co. – Soap Sample PASS

Similar to the thoughts I had. I bought the Winter Soap and AS Set. KJ said and I knew also after smelling that Tornadic would be the one for you. Nice review !

Yep, knew you’d like Tornadic. Your take on some of them is interesting. You definitely pick up on a few things that I don’t.

My apologies for holding on to these longer than expected. I am going to record a shave Sunday with Tornadic, then I will get them shipped off on Monday or Tuesday.

Just pull enough for your shave and send it on. I tell you these youtube celebrity stars are so difficult.......................

Oz Shaving is running another sale if anyone is looking to order.

Things are little slow this time of year with USPS. I hope it's tomorrow.

These arrived yesterday. I haven't had a shave with them yet, but I have given them a good sniff.

Foxville: This is a nice scent. It is spicy and somewhat reminiscent of a cola beverage to my nose.
Jack Pumpkin: Pumpkin, cinnamon, and malt. It is an interesting scent, but I am not a fan of pumpkin.
Nonestic Ocean: A nice, light Bay Rum scent with a hint of citrus. It is a bit too light for me.
Oil Can: Tobacco with hints of vanilla. I think this one would be nice to shave with.
Polychrome: Citrus and jasmine. This is a very pleasant scent.
Tik Tok: The tobacco and coffee of this one is rich and interesting. It is almost chocolatey. I like it.
Tornadic: This is a great fougere. I own it and quite like it.
Wicked: Leather and alcohol. Not bad, but not for me.
Winter scent: Peppermint and spice. This is an interesting blend of scents
Woodsman: A very light cologne scent. It is pleasant, but too light.
Yellow Brick: A very clean scent. I think this one would be nice to shave with also.

Shave #1 with Woodsman

I like the Woodsman scent. Like most of the samples in the pass box the scent is light. On the SOS scale I would put most of them around a 2 out of 5. The scents are harmonious and well blended. None of them come off to me as discordant. The Woodsman scent very pleasant but it is one of the lighter ones in the whole sample bag. It did not really change after being lathered in my Turkish shave mug. The light scent did make for a pleasant shave, but having it be a bit more present during the shave would have been a good thing. I like that the scent wasn't overpowering, but this one is just a touch too light. The soap performance was great. I feel like I didn't give the soap enough water. The lather was thick and rich. The cushion was good. The glide was good, but it could have been better with more water. My face is soft and conditioned post-shave as should be expected with a high-end artisan soap. I find CBL and PAA to be better, but only by a matter of a few degrees.

Overall these soaps are great. At ~$15 for a 4 ounce tub they are in the average price range for modern artisan shaving soap. I am going to put them in Box 2 on the Vargo Soap Scale. Perhaps with some time to really dial them in, they might make it to Box 1. But, I think the SOS needs to be improved a touch to really put them into the Elite box.

My opinion of them is that they are worth the purchase and I will be buying more down the road. I think that before too long Oz Shaving products will regularly be found in the dens of most of the Cadre.

Thanks Doug. Nice review. I agree these are Tier 1.

And good luck tomorrow!

Great to hear other peoples opinion of OZ Shave soaps. Some of their scents are just OK but the Jack Pumpkin Head is a quite nice spicy pumpkin scent. Look forward to see what else comes down the OZ pipeline in the future.
