On the razors edge with Galaktus

Last night I decided to give myself some more practice. I rebeveled the Genco 5/8 and the Gold Dollar 1996. I also pulled out an untouched Gold Dollar 66. It had a horrendous grind. Lots of grind wear on the toe and heel. Im using a DMT 1200, and lost count after 52 million laps, haha. The toe looks good but the heel needs some more work.
I'm gonna beat that razor into submission. When I have the bevel set on the 66 I'll work on the film progression for all three.

Another decent shave. Not the sharpest or smoothest razor I've ever honed but it's an acceptable shave for me.

As I'm getting refamiliarized with shaving with straight razors, I am seeing that my razor could be sharper. Unfortunately, I don't have any time within the next 24-36 hours or so to dedicate to some peaceful, non-rushed honing, so it will have to wait.
Other than that, not a while lot to report on the shaving front. Tomorrow night I'm hosting a meeting at my house, so after working all night, getting just a few hours if sleep, I'll be starting a huge pot of chili tomorrow around noon. I'll post pictures.

Didn't have time to hone, but did some touch up on a primitive surgical black Arkansas. Used Arko lather. I don't notice a whole lot of difference in the shave, I probably needed to do a lot more laps.
Maybe tonight or tomorrow, both off days, I can hone some of my razors in waiting.

The chili was a huge hit. My guests all had two bowls of it. Plenty left over too! IMG_20200513_181325.jpg

I've had some people comment on my chili. My brother in law calls it a stew, but I've repeatedly challenged him to a chili cook off and he has never taken me up on it. Other than that, I've never had any complaints, other than sometimes being too hot. The good thing about chili is that you can make it any way you'd like.

Onto the shaving- last night I honed some razors. Got that Gold Dollar beveled, I think the passes on the DMT was about infinity and a half. Also did a Genco 5/8, Gold Dollar 1996 and that Geneva 6/8. After the GD 66 was set, I went to the Norton 4k/8k combo, them 1um lapping film, then again with Arko lather instead if plain water.
This mornings shave with the Geneva 6/8 (yes, I'm stubborn, I'm bound to beat that razor into submission), the shave was pretty good.
Tomorrow I'll try a different razor, probably the GD 66.

All Caught up Laz and indeed Chili is the All in the pot for everyone it looked good, but I would have to agree with your brother as Chili does not have beans, LOL Too much time in Texas for me I guess, LOL glad the honing is going a bit better
