I'm home today so I can accompany the youngest to USF for a college tour and meeting with the admissions counselor. She's been accepted, but waiting for the UC system to release their acceptances. She said if in a miracle she's accepted to UCLA to Berkeley, she'll go there, otherwise it's USF. We weren't totally sold that the decision wasn't at least somewhat based on her not being far from her boyfriend, but at this point she's put in the work and got several scholarships, so good enough.
Yesterday we had Drinks & Daves were I talked about buying a new Tesla Model 3 and just the leaps in technology from my old Model S. I told a story were I was close to buying a Jaguar Type F, if not for the poor service by the place we went to test drive. I shared a lot about the self driving and just how amazing it really is. I literally have been in physical control of the car for less than a mile still with all the other driving being autopilot. That was a major reason I was sold on the 3.
I did forget to share about one of the other major reasons. I really struggled in thinking about going back to a gas car. In the end, thinking about all the additional parts that at some point could fail with a gas car, from this side of gas/electric it just feels like a rolling complexity with future repair bills. Even though my S had items that needed to be fix after 11 years, none of them effected the actual driving of the car, I never needed brake service, no oil changes, no maintenance what so ever. I get everyone isn't sold on electric yet. I figure many of them haven't actually driven one, or maybe driven one with minimal power. But it also isn't a car for people that don't like change and will throw out circumstances that happen rarely to most people that would cause an issue. But hey, even if we get a freak rainstorm and the self driving doesn't work because of low visibility, I can still drive my car, verbally tell it my butt is cold to turn on the seat heaters, and have the accent lights flash to the music. It's a pretty sweet ride.
If you remember how to....But hey, even if we get a freak rainstorm and the self driving doesn't work because of low visibility, I can still drive my car,
I actually thought about this, but not for me. Just like we're the generation that bridged the time between no internet and computers to them being fully integrated in every day. There is very soon going to be a group of kids that start driving with cars that for the most part can drive themselves but not 100% and then they will be poorly skilled when they need to take over. But then the next group will grow up without steering wheels at all.If you remember how to....
I look forward to that day....I'm gonna go tearing down the road in my '68 Mustang and terrify these kids.I actually thought about this, but not for me. It's okay, he can't tear very much. The cops in Vegas will nail you for going 6mph over the limit. Right @BarberDave ?

First, I'm just spending this morning trying to get over being disappointed by @MarkB, but as Celine Dion sings, my heart will go on.
Booooo....quitter! The second half of the movie is the best part. Go back and finish it.I did try to watch Big Trouble in Little China again and just couldn't do it. I got maybe halfway and gave up again.
