Boy, what a wild weather weekend. Wasn't too bad on Saturday with a trip up to the city. Sunday, I was supposed to pick up two bottles of Laphroaig from TW. One was a release from a year or two ago that is still floating around a little. Well, it turned out it wasn't that, they just hadn't updated the special release pic since then. Bozos. Saved me money I guess. Then the winds started picking up with sporadic rain. I mean WINDS. I moved a chair into the little alcove by our front door to have a cigar and watch a YouTube live of some folks near me opening scotches that ranged from $300-$2000. The winds were really pushing trees around. My wife came out once to tell me the chairs were being pushed around the deck. That's nothing new and happens from time to time. I told her I'd take care of them when I was done. Next was a report of the patio heater having been blown over and bent. I had thought it would have bent the round reflector on the top. Nope, that was fine but the base was bent where the main pole goes into it, and some of the mesh below the main burner. I got it straight again and turned off the gas. I think it should operate fine, but will find out later. Then I heard how the youngest's, who was in San Diego, flight was delayed by four hours even though it wasn't scheduled to leave for many hours yet. I got on the app and started listening to ATC. All sorts of reports of go-arounds, wind sheer, and even a microburst over the airport. Exciting stuff that would have me taking large medicinal quantities of scotch if I had to fly in that. My wife moved her to an earlier flight which was then later cancelled and she was pumped back to the original flight and got home around midnight in an understandable foul mood. Today looks much better.
