Just like Captain Hadley told Andy Dufresne that he didn't need Andy to tell him where the bear s*** in the buckwheat, I don't need to read Gear's journal to know that it feels like Monday.

It is Saturday #2 Dude you will find the Calender and a map under a Rock, that looks like it does not look like it belongs under your desk and a map to Zihuatanejo

Well, Authur Dent might not have gotten the hang of Thursdays, but I think Tuesdays are the oddball. I mean it's not even half-way through the week.

Be very, very careful with this stuff. Its astonishingly effective pheromone properties have been well-known since the '60s. For instance, it may prove foolhardy to wear it to work, unless you prefer working under the watchful eyes of swarms of nubile nurses. Honestly my friend, it may be best to just lock yourself alone in your office till you are certain it has worn off.

Hey Sam, it's super easy documenting shaves when it's the same thing over and over!

Well, it's my Friday and your...well heck, it's your Friday too because the day doesn't change just dependant on if you're working or not! Day #3 of the strike. Day #1 was a bit busy with us being the first hospital that was visited by the state. Let's just say, that their coming before we've even gotten settled for the day led to more scrambling than we thought we would have. But they got to spend time with me, so my charm won them over and everything was fine. The logistics of moving people around has been the biggest challenge, so that's a good thing. There have been some shenanigans at other hospitals, but it's been pretty mellow here with the people who seem to be throwing a party outside on the sidewalk. I start a week of being on-call tomorrow at 8am and the strike ends tomorrow at 6am. So fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

Ballsy of them to visit with current strike tensions! Was a resolution reached?
Oh, they are 100% expected when there’s a strike. They want to know which jobs are effected and how we’re covering what those people did.

Nope, no resolution. COVID totally changed the climate. Medical systems are going out of business all the time now because of post-COVID finances. And you have medical workers who are burnt out, dealing with a reduced work force, and want compensation.

Oh, just realized why you might be asking. This was an announced 3 day strike so it ends tomorrow 6am no matter what. They can then announce another one if they feel the need, but they have to give us a 10-day notice.

I never worked in a hospital with workers on strike. Any significant group of employees on strike would disrupt the flow of business throughout the facility. Yeah, that could certainly tax the systems. Not surprising the licensing bodies appear out of the woodwork - you're basically running a disaster drill for the duration of the strike. Best of luck.

Back to our regularly scheduled program. Workwise the weekend was quiet, so that's good. The oldest and her friend were in town to see their friends so they were in and out. Wife and I went out Saturday to celebrate our Sammiversary a little late to a Californian Moroccan restaurant which was pretty good. And Sunday we tried to get a handle on our travel plans through next year. Decided to take the first half of spring break and go to Cabo and meet my sister and BIL there. Then the day after we get back from that will be TSC Con 2024! Then I think in Sept/Oct we'll head out to D.C. and spend a week there with my parents to tag along on a trip they are splurging on for themselves. Ugh to the price of airfare now!
