Just a great shave this morning!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Atomic Rocket
Lather: Pre de Provence #63
Aftershave: Fine Platinum
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Pinaud Clubman Powder

First time with a Nacet in the Diamondback, and it worked like a charm! I broke out the PDP #63, and I really like this soap. It's plenty slick, with residual slickness that's better than MdC. It left my face feeling clean and hydrated, and oh! The scent! It looks like it'll last for a long time as well. Today I tried using both the alum block and the Humphreys Maravilla, and I like this extra step. The alum is astringent, and after a rinse and towel dry, the Humphreys is soothing and toning. A glug of the Fine Platinum and I'm smelling fresh and menthol cool. The Clubman powder finished things off, and I'm ready to face the day!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Fine Platinum and Clubman powder? 😦

I would not have figured those two to go together lol. Glad it works though! Have a good one Frank!

Well, I'm pretty unrefined when it comes to making matches, but I'm not going anywhere today, so it's pretty much just for my nose! Im a big fan of Ethos Succes and Platinum, but just don't have the funds to get a bottle of Aventus, so I'm searching for a good clone. For now, though, it'll have to be Succes or Platinum.

Mid-afternoon shave today and the results are great!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Simpson Duke D3 Best Badger
Lather: Stirling Gatlinburg
Aftershave: Addidas Dynamic
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I know I'm repetitive when it comes to the Diamondback, but I just absolutely love this razor. It is so comfortable in the hand and on my face. The Nacet is plenty sharp and smooth. There's really almost no blade feel, but the whiskers come off right at skin level. It was feeling autumnal this morning at 7 when I went to the grocery. I like getting there when they open. I have the whole store to myself. Anyway, the coolness of the atmosphere made me think of fall scents, and my beloved Gatlinburg and the soap that bears its name. So that's what I went for. It's a great scent and a great soap. I'm definitely ready for Fall to get here. I did the alum/Maravilla combo again today. It's probably overkill, but I like the way the alum tightens my skin, and the way the Maravilla smells and feels, so why not do both if no harm is done. Finally, I reached to the back of the drawer and pulled out the bottle of Adidas Aftershave I bought on a whim at CVS a while back. It's a sporty scent, "developed with athletes." What they know about Aftershave that I don't, beats me, but it's pleasant and merged with the Borotalco seamlessly. Four passes and I'm BBS and smelling great!

Great shave Frank! I think Chad has mentioned Adidas Pulse before, but don’t see the name thrown around much otherwise. Glad it works well!

Thirty hours growth, rendered BBS smooth. My Sunday shave didn't happen until after midnight, so technically it's a Monday shave, but it was still special!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Lather: Pre de Provence #63
Aftershave: Pitralon Classic
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

Not much to report, as everything just worked perfectly. I don't know that I'll keep PdP #63 in my Sunday lineup, because it's lacking a bit of residual slickness, but I love the scent. We'll see.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

A midnight shave with one of my favorite soaps.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Lather: Zingari Man The Wanderer
Aftershave: Fine Platinum
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

It's the last on my list alphabetically, but it ranks near the top. The Sego Base is unique in that loading off the puck doesn't really produce lather. I have to get the creamy product onto the brush, then apply to my face. Only after adding water and scrubbing do I get an actual lather out of it, but it's a fantastic lather - super slick, with tons of residual slickness. The Diamondback glided across my face, and left me smooth and comfortable. No irritation at all. I finished with a big splash of Fine Platinum, which I love.

Morning shave trying out a new Ethos purchase.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated
Brush: Simpson Duke D3 Best Badger
Lather: Ethos Melange D'Agrumes
Aftershave: Nivea 2 in 1
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I was very interested in trying out the Ethos soap because MdC Agrumes is one of my favorite soaps and I was eager to compare the two. MdC is more monolithically lemon scented, while the Ethos gives definite notes of orange and grapefruit. Ethos is definitely a more complex citrus bouquet. I used 5 drops of the scent additive, and it made the lather very strongly scented. The strength off the puck, without the additive, is comparable to MdC. As to performance, it was as easy to lather as MdC, and took a good amount of water. I find that there's a narrow band of water with MdC that produces an extremely slick lather surpassed only by Zingari Man Sego Base and CK-6 from PAA. Ethos was pretty slick, but I don't want to make a final judgement until I've played around with it for a few lathers. It was good and slick, and upon rinsing, my face was more moisturized than MdC leaves it. So, I'll proclaim the Ethos has a more complex, fresh citrus experience than MdC, but upon initial use, it wasn't quite as slick as MdC when I hit it right. I used a new Voshkod blade in the Diamondback, and it did just great, leaving me BBS after four passes with minimal touch-up. The Nivea 2 in 1 did its job.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!
