A nice evening shave tonight, in advance of a sleepless night I have no one to blame for but myself. Oh well, I'll get a lot of reading for entertainment done.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green (3)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: Ethos/ CBL Lime
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Ethos Lime Skin Food Splash

A very pleasant shave with this 7 O'Clock Green still going strong. Four passes and I'm BBS. The cooling agent in the soap gives an ever-so-light burning sensation, not at all unpleasant, and the SFS transmutes that into a cooling that lasts for a good hour. I'm going to need to get some more SFS. I guess I'm using too much. Had the car in the shop this morning at 7 am for new spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. It's got 222000 miles on it, so that kind of thing is just part of the deal. I was home by nine, and promptly lay down for just a few minutes and ended up sleeping through the afternoon, so getting sleep tonight is unlikely. I'll have to pull a 22 hour day tomorrow to get to sleep at a normal time. Keeping a regular sleep schedule has been a struggle for me during this crazy stay at home time.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Dang it Frank! Stop with the extended cat naps! [emoji23]
I know, I know! I did end up getting some sleep between around 1 and just now, 4:50am. I may be able to get a little more in and then stay up all day. We'll see!

I'm going to double check the tightness of my Fatboy after today's near disaster!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Gillette Fatboy on 7
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: Ariana and Evans Cuban Highball
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Jovan Musk
Talc: Borotalco

During pass four, as I'm cleaning up my neck, the razor untightened, undoubtedly due to my not properly tightening it. I gave myself a few weepers during the errant stroke. The styptic took care of that! I really enjoy the Cuban Highball, I get the Kaizen base without the Kaizen scent, which, on the original, I'm not too fond of. But Cuban Highball is like a fruity mojito and it's a pleasure to smell and to use. So, weepers aside, a great late afternoon shave!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I shaved yesterday but didn't do a journal entry. I fell asleep listening to a shaving podcast. It must not have been as interesting as I expected. Tonight, in honor of the wonderful thunderstorms, I used PAA La Tierra Mojada, the wet asphalt soap. It definitely has a hint of that, but it's mostly floral.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (1)
Brush: Omega Pro 48 boar
Soap: PAA La Tierra Mojada
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: PAA La Tierra Mojada
Talc: Borotalco

I paired the soap and AS and now I smell like a floral parking lot after a Summer rainstorm. The Personna works great in the Diamondback, and I'm BBS smooth after four drama-free passes. Tomorrow I'm going to have to do a detailed cleaning of my bathroom (I'm uncomfortable calling it a den for some reason) as it is coated in a fine deposit of talcum. I think I'll get everything shiny before my Sunday special shave.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I'm trying to decide if I'd like that or not!
It's interesting. It dries down to pretty much floral, but every now and then I'll catch a whiff of that rain on asphalt. I'm not sure I'd wear it out, but for a stay at home weekend day/night it's pleasant.

A nice luxurious evening Sunday shave.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Personna Platinum Israeli Red
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Pre-Shave: Proraso Red
Lather: Saponificio Varesino Cosmo Formula Beta 4.2
Aftershave: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Captain Smythe's Reserve Bay Rum
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I discovered I can copy and paste from the Shaving Buddy app, so that's cool. SV Cosmo is a very good soap. Great even. The Chubby 2 hogs the lather a bit, but a bit of water frees it up. I finished with the Captain Smythe's, so I smell like new saddle bags. I like it, and should use it more often, but that's true of a lot of AS I have. Pondering the choices is a big part of the pleasure, especially on Sundays. Four passes with the Diamondback and I'm BBS with no irritation. Just a great pleasure of a shave!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I revisited an old friend tonight. Mitchell's Wool Fat.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Personna Platinum Israeli Red
Brush: Semogue Boar
Pre-Shave: Proraso Red
Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Aftershave: Speick Aftershave
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I hadn't used MWF since March, when I used it every day of the month as a part of a fixed four exercise, wherein, I got really good at lathering it. So when I opened the drawer of soaps and saw it, I realized how long it had been, and remembered how awesome a soap it is, so I grabbed the ceramic and took off the lid. The remains of the puck have shrunk considerably, contracting away from the sides. And the scent has faded a bit, not that there was much to begin with. It was a super dry puck that I immediately soaked while I showered. Then I grabbed my Semogue Boar, drained the water and proceeded to make a huge load of protolather that went all over. I kept loading and loading, as the protolather thickened, and I started transferring it to my face. Once my face was loaded with all that protolather, I started scrubbing my face with the brush. A little water, more scrubbing and painting, then more water, and more scrubbing. It was starting to come around. Just a bit more water, and I was painting a glorious, thick lather all over my cheeks, chin, and neck. Success! I had four passes and a BBS shave, and got to enjoy the wonderful face feel this soap provides. It's not verging on tacky, like some superfatted bases - which I like, by the way. No, MWF leaves my skin super soft. It's its own thing really. There's nothing else quite like it. I've decided to do an MWF week this week and see how much I have left. It's nearing the end and time to order a refill. I've read claims elsewhere that they've changed the formula, but I seriously doubt it. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and as far as I've been able to find out, the claims are not supported by such evidence. Anyway, I love MWF and might make it my regular Sunday soap.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Heh, called out Sunday made me think of the Waltons or Little House on the Prairie. On Sundays Frank takes his weekly shower, gets in his MWF shave and heads out to town for the hot pot roast dinner in his nice clothes.

Excellent shave this morning as I took the Fatboy up to 8 and got a very close BBS.

Razor: Gillette Fatboy Adjustable
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 B
Lather: Ariana & Evans Cuban Highball
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Reserve Tequila Tease
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

The Cuban Highball was still out from the other day, so I reached for it again. It smells wonderful! I took the Fatboy up to 8 and got a very Envoy type feel. Finished off with the Tequila Tease, which lasts for about 20 min, but those are a good 20 min. Four passes and I'm BBS!
