I’ll be in the labs today and tomorrow and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to announce the winner in the next couple of days for sure. I will say using a non conventional method of scenting the soap will bring down the cost to both myself and my customers but this is also about an acceptable scent strength. There is no magical way to create a Pure Sandalwood essential oil soap inexpensively other than using a inexpensive synthetic fragrance or an Aroma Chemical which would be more expensive but neither would remotely come close in price to using any type of Authentic Sandalwood essential oil. Especially if using Mysore. If anyone is interested in the types as I am if your looking for wonderful warmth and creaminess. Mysore is the tops with good East Indian coming in next. Hawaiian has a slight sweetness to it but lacks what the other two have. New Caledonia and Australian are more linear and lacking in any warmth or creaminess and I would use the last 3 I mentioned if I was doing a multiple note scent but if I’m looking for a straight pure Sandalwood scent I’d only go with East Indian and of course Mysore if obtainable. I have many varieties in my aroma library and have been working on this for a while as some know. What’s really sad is that back in the 60’s and early 70’s high quality wonderful smelling Sandalwood oils were easily available and reasonably priced of course Mysore was and still is my favorite. Move ahead to 2020 and Sandalwood is in the top 10 most expensive aroma ingredients and what’s even more scary is it’s number 10 on most of the lists I’ve seen. So yes there are 9 other essential oils that are more expensive per oz than Sandalwood oil but looking at the Mysore variety I’m not so sure it wouldn’t climb up the list at least 2 or 3 spots based on the prices I’m getting.
Sorry for the long extended rant on Sandalwood oil but as you might have guessed I really like it! Lol
