Let's All 3017... The 2021 Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations Edition!

dkeester

"TSC's Master of Bourbon"
The new year is almost upon us, so it is time to kick off 2021 with a 3017!!!
Please join us this time around as we tackle some of the wonderful products from @LNHC.

Here are the rules guidelines for this edition:
  1. Before January 1 head on over to Artisan Shaving Soaps | Traditional Wet Shaving | Old School Shaving and purchase some soap, if you don't already have some.
  2. Participants are encouraged to pick up the matching aftershave, if there is one. (This is not a requirement.)
  3. Completely unused tubs are encouraged, but not required. If you have a partial tub that you want to kill, bring it!
  4. Sign up in this thread and let us know which product you will be killing.
  5. Shave with it starting on January 1 (or whatever day your first shave of the new year is) and keep going until the tub is empty.
  6. We encourage you to keep track of soap utilization by weight and include it in your posts in this thread.
  7. Cheat days are allowed! But, in the spirit of the event try to keep them to only one a week.
  8. Keep us up to date, in this thread, on how you are progressing. This is a communal event, so let's talk about it.
  9. Remember that there is the The bottom of a tub where you can (should?) post a pic of the empty tub when you reach the finish line.
Let's have some fun with it!

Well I just finished my shave portion of the day. I broke the seal on a brand new tub of the Barbershoppe from @LNHC including the matching balm to go along with it. And BOOM what a shave to start the year. This is not even a challenge this will is a guarantee of great shaves. I do need to add a little bit more water to the lather tomorrow I know this soap can be slicker. That's what is fun about the 3017 journey you really get to master a soap.

I also did not weigh my soap, i've never really cared about how much I use per shave or any of that. I just like to know that every day I can count on my shave being great, and that's how I do my 3017ing. And this soap hits the marks!

The 3017 is begun!

I’ll try to get a pre-shave weight on the soap each day, so there’s no added water weight.

Here’s today’s and also the initial tub weight:

About 41 of those grams are just from the weight of the plastic tub, leaving me with a starting soap weight of about 79 grams or about 2.79 oz.

First shave was good! LNHC does make me work a bit more than other soaps, to build up the lather, but the end result is superb! The post shave elixir is the cherry on top!

My tub for the month and two for cheat days.

The full tub of Barber Shoppe with lid weighed in at 166 grams. Let's see how long it takes to empty it.

Today's shave started with the tub blooming. I got a really great load but it needed more water. So far I think Lisa's 8.1 formula is a winner.

I too got started today. Probably should have used a wetter brush to get a better load. Ended up under loading my boar brush so the lather was pretty bad but the slickness was still fantastic!

Ok, so I’m using Lisa’s of premium artisan formula. I had two partial tubs and I mixed them together into an empty CBL container. Her old tubs were far to narrow to load from with a brush. A full tub is 3oz, and when I combined them I had 3.9 oz of soap. However that formulation was more of a cream than a soap, so I left it uncovered for a few days to allow it to evaporate and harden into something that would stand up to brush loading. Yielded 3.7 oz of soap. Two uses so far and I’m down .65 oz. at that rate this soap will last me about 9-10 more days. We’ll see.
