It will work on some. Just remember the more mirror the polish, tiny scratches look huge and appear with very little use. That's the big thing I don't like about mirror polishes on knives that get used. A satin finish hides the normal use so it doesn't look out of place.

For doing knives, no. If you get your apex to a point that those will do you any good you will be constantly chipping your edge because it will be too thin.
