Shave #40 (500 Open Blade Shaves) of 2022:
Gear: Parker Adjustable Injector, Tactonic blade, TH Taurus A brush, CBL Sir Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Sir Irisch Moos AS, and Bottega Veneta Illusione to finish!
Let’s switch up a couple things and do that again!
Almost a repeat of yesterday’s shave. Swapped the brush and frag…and poured on a heaping helping of Irish Moos per Bruce! BV Illusione finished things off very nicely! One more use left in that sample.
Within the last week, I’ve learned of a couple more colleagues, long timers at my company, who will be moving on to other pastures. Hoping it’s not an I’ll portent! There’s been a lot of in and out since I arrived. It is one of the banes of being a non-profit I guess…that is being 110% competitive in a day in age where stress has greatly increased and compensation for it is all over the place. Hoping we can keep chugging.
It’s Wednesday! Let’s see what mischief we can get up to!

Gear: Parker Adjustable Injector, Tactonic blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Skin Bracer AS, and JPG Le Male to finish!
Great workout last night and a decent nights rest.
Great shave this morning. Surprise to me…the remainder of the Steel Grey Fougere was such that I could relegate it to the Clown Puke tub after all! First soap of 2022 killed! Finished off with the ever relevant Skin Bracer and some super spritzes of what remained from my Le Male sample. Future purchase? Maybe! I’m scared to dive into all the versions and iterations though…there’s got to be a bagillion…
Needless to say, for today, I’m ready to get after it!

You should get a sample of the JPG Ultra Male - has a base that at least gives a nod to its heritage - but a much more youthful approach.

Great shave to kick it off! Probably the last one for the Parker injector this week; time to switch it out to something else…but what?
Last pumps out of my Bottega Veneta Illusione sample to seal the deal. Pretty nice frag, unassuming but solid on most accounts, great for office wear…still probably not a purchase though.
I’ve really got to try and avoid the frag sites more…almost picked up some moderately discounted bottles of DG Light Blue PH and Prada LR Ocean…but was able to resist. For now

Gear: Henson Al medium, Astra SS blade, Graydog Art Deco brush, CBL Grassroots Lavender soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Fine AB AS, and Fine AB EDT to finish!
A fairly normal Saturday today. A bit of a sleep in, then up for an OT workout class. Early celebratory Valentine’s breakfast at the beach. Then back home for chores and chill.
Brought out the Henson for the shave, loading up the last (thankfully!) of my Astra SS blades. Went to town mowing stubble after a nice shower. Lavender/modern barbershop was the scent theme. I do love the Fine scents, they did help me find my most cherished scent (YSL RG)…but I’ve been feeling that since I took this set to the last Hawaii trip, something is not as enjoyable as it was. Either I’ve developed a snobbish scent nose or the airplane trip did something to the fragrance. It’s still enjoyable, I just don’t enjoy it as much as I used to. A shame. Still got a ways to go before the set is finished off. I think I’m developing into more of a Dave though…fun scents that don’t last much post-shave, leaving space for a nice frag to be enjoyed the rest of the day. It’s further solidifying my need to use up the shave software I have so I can settle to a small rotation of nice stuff. It’s not helping my frag trigger finger though lol.
