Open Blade Shave #236:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (11), RR Game Changer .68, Astra SP blade (?), Yaqi SF synth, SS Citrus & Bay soap, and Bootlegger’s Bay Rum AS to finish!

Not a whole lot to work with this morning. My cheeks were still mostly BBS, just coming into DFS. Everything else was DFS-CCS. Looks like I’ll be repeating that tomorrow too...darn it! ?

A real shame that Joe is not planning on keeping stock of the .68 GC. I mean I guess the one I have will last just about forever, but still, there’s always a chance something will go wrong...

Continued the holiday-ish theme with a full bay rum shave. Just. So. Good! Not a whole lot of irritation either.

I get to have an early day today. It’ll be mostly putting things in storage and cleaning carpets. Easy day!

Happy Wednesday all!

Nice shave Chris, cleaning carpets = back breaking. Don't overdo it
I'm sure industrial is different, but when I had a carpeted home, I loved using the carpet cleaner and seeing all that dirt leaving the carpet.

Ours, I guess, is more like a carpet scrubber, the cleaning formula does all the dirt/stain dissolving. It’s like a big motor on a stick that spins the cleaning pad around.

Nice shave Chris, chalk another one up in the win column!

Is the .68 plate the original plate offered with the GC?

Thanks Steve!

The .68 was the original production plate for the GC, yes. Now they’ve moved on to the .84; I don’t know if that one will stay in production or not.

The .84 plate is more aggressive? I’m assuming it’s the gap measurement? I’ll be honest I still have a lot to learn about the specifics like this, and have no idea where my razors fall in this area lol.

All things bring equal, a larger blade gap will be more aggressive. So when comparing 2 GCs with different gaps.... yes. But comparing two different razors, blade gap isn’t the only consideration, just a good starting point.

What KJ said; there are many factors. Shaver reports are that the .84 plate (the handles and cap are the same as the .68) is a bit more blade feel and efficiency for a very similar smooth shave as the .68.

I surmise that this is why the .68 is being discontinued. People felt it wasn’t “Game change-y” enough as much as the .84.

Free Shave Day:

Gear: RR Game Changer .68, Astra SP blade (?), Yaqi SF synth, Cella soap, and CC Venture AS to finish!

Up a tad early today. Had to shower and shave, then be out the door for my middle son’s classroom play/musical on geology.

Opted for just a 2 pass shave with the GC since time was of the essence. Continued my “festive” shave streak with the ever scrumptious Cella, putting the finishing touches with a bit of moisturizer and the subtle but equally delightful Venture AS.

Today’s work shift, later, will cap my 3 day work week.

The missus has to be at the op center quite early tomorrow however and the kids to school, so no late night otherwise or sleeping in! I’ll probably have to squeeze my shave in sometime in the late morning, The the operation is completed and we’re released (it’s amazing what counts as out patient surgery these days).

Have a great Thursday all!
