Herritage Collections Gibbs Clone

Boy that really looks like the real thing in the pics. I've never heard of this maker though. Any idea on what kind of quality that we can expect.

Personally I love the short stubby handle on the Gibbs.

My brushes are damn fine in quality. I know it's apples and oranges, but I would expect the same high quality reproduction.

Nice, the brushes really look great, don't know how I've never heard of this maker. Definitely interested in seeing the Gibbs repro.

I don't think he's very well known here or any other forum. But Neil seems like a pretty solid dude. I've emailed back and forth of a few times.

I still don't know what a Gibbs is. I mentioned before that I'd never heard of one , and someone posted a pic, but that's all. And what's this about modding blades?

The Rex Ambassador is a copy of the classic Gibbs adjustable. The blades need to be clipped on the end tabs due to the Gibbs having risers on the ends.

The Gibbs is a great razor, very smooth at all settings. I would love to have one but the cost are pretty high of you can find them

Here is a video

It's a vintage razor that when you nib out on either side of a de blade for the 2 tabs on the razor you can use modern de's. Lots of info if you google it.

Looks like John beat me to it

Gibbs was a French razor manufacturer. Their adjustable models (No. 15 and No. 17 very efficient but also super smooth. They came with Bakelite handles to cover the threaded portion of attached to the knob that threads to the top cap.
They take a proprietary blade that has notches on the end of the blade tabs to keep the blade centered. There are a few ways to modify the blade such as a 1/8” heady duty hole punch or cutting about 1mm off each blade tab. I have just been cutting the blade tabs down and making sure there is an even blade reveal and it’s been working great.
I also have a non- adjustable model No.13 that had different aggression level on opposing side of the head but accepts standard de blades, as well as a similar No. 16 that needs the same type of blade modification that the adjustable models require.

always loved the Gibbs and turned down a few opportunities to buy one although the are never far from my mind. the heritage version has been on my mind and I have been waiting. JT

Man, I bought a beautiful piece of Ebonite to make a custom handle with for mine. It's been with the guy for over 6 months now. I guess I just have to go get it back and live with the crap handle it has. Otherwise it's one of the best shavers I've used.

I'll make some sort of video when I get mine back, IF I get it back. Blah.
