Gillette Fatboy Restoration

I thought about doing this, but it makes me very nervous lol.
Nothing to be nervous about. Just be gentle and do a little at a time. The bars move pretty easily. (also you may want to put a little tape on the screwdriver so as not to scratch the razor.

Ha! That looks like me with my family's old Microsoft network.

Well against my better judgment, I faced my fears....

I’m not sure you can tell from the pics, but it seems to be fixed. I’m sure it’s not perfect, but the razor open and closes smoothly now and both sides appear to be pretty even. Taking it for a test run tomorrow.

Needs a test shave now!

I think you did a good job man of three names! You may have inspired me to straighten out my slim!

The Katrina Razor!!!

Nope. The Katrina razor was someone else. That one was under water for a few days. Rust Boy was bought online (and in worse condition than alluded to in the posting) and sent out for repair and replating.

The Aristocrat began its journey back to me 2/1/19, or 30 days after Sportshaving received it. Two razors sent to them, total time spent there 54 days, or an average of 27 days. Nice turnaround time, especially when compared to what others ask you to wait. Pictures when the razor reaches me.

Very interested to see the results!I have a couple of razors that I am looking to restore.

Not a FB, but here are before & after photos of my '46/7 Aristocrat, replated by sportshaving.com for $82.85, shipping included It spent 30 days in the shop.

Before:

It wasn't in bad shape, but the gold was worn.

After:

I'm pleased with Nick's work.

Man I might have been happy with the before version, but the after is stunning!

I have three other razors, also replated. They all needed it much so than the 'Crat. Truthfully, I kind of felt bad for the homely little guy. As my favorite razor, I felt I owed him a shiny new coat.
