Yikes! Hang in there Ryan! This too shall pass!
(see what I did there? #kidneystonehumor #toosoon)
ERs can seem chaotic and disorganized, but it is all organized mayhem. One thing this pandemic has done is to better inform the public about the role of the nurse. We do much more than is generally understood. It usually takes a visit to the hospital to fully appreciate the many roles a nurse plays. When you have doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and others all pulling together, a lot of expertise is focused in one area. And when you are part of a good team, nothing is better.I will say I had some of the best ER nurses too. @NurseDave not sure where your specialty lies but much like after our son spent 2.5 weeks in the NICU last May, this quick ER stint left me infinitely grateful and amazed at all nurses and doctors working through this insane time in healthcare.

I'm glad you didn't require surgery, Ryan. Not that passing a kidney stone is fun, but it beats a trip to the OR.
Great news! I did a lot of stent cases in the OR - yeah, they are best avoided, if possible. For some they are a necessary evil. Repetitive cystoscopies are not something I'd enjoy. Also thrilled that I was able to pass it into the bladder without intervention - both my parents had to have stents put in and just thinking about that going in and then coming back out makes me light-headed.
Side-by-side, side-by-side!do a side-by-side
Yeah, I'm thinking that too Bruce. For science!Side-by-side, side-by-side!
Everyone I know that has had one agrees with you. Glad it passed without intervention. It's absolutely mind-blowing how much pain could come from such a tiny little mineral deposit.
Really makes you stop and realize how A, amazing our bodies are and B, how tiny those tubes between the kidneys and bladder really are!Everyone I know that has had one agrees with you. Glad it passed without intervention.
Thank you Chris, me too!Glad you’re better Ryan!
Kidney stones stretch, scrape and scratch the ureter as they pass. That's what causes that intense pain you experienced. I would think it'll be a couple days before it's fully healed.that ureter took a beating on Tuesday so I'm sure still needs a little more time to heal.
I know, it's pretty incredible! I wouldn't ever push a blade this far regularly since they are SO cheap but I'm still getting comfortable shaves and now want to see how far it will go!70 shaves off a single blade?
Yup, makes sense on the healing part - should have thought about that a little more before spending 30 minutes cycling. Whoops.Kidney stones stretch, scrape and scratch the ureter as they pass. In my experience the flare tip performs the exact same as all other Super Speeds aside from the Blue and Red tips for obvious reasons. Mild but enjoyable to use.Never tried a flare tip SS but I love my black beauty.
Thank you Bruce! And it really is a pristine Tech. It's a candidate for my son's first razor, but I probably have another 15 or so years to nail that one downThat's a clean-looking ball end Tech. Good luck at the doctors' appointments today, Ryan.
Thanks Chris! We're trying to figure out which restaurant to visit for our first true date night since having our son, there are just so many options and everything sounds great now that it's been so long.Congrats on the morning out on the town Ryan! The missus and I have loved having our date mornings back now that things are fairly reasonable health-wise.
