Overview
The Tech is still one of the best razors ever made. Prove me wrong.
Shave Stuff
Today's shave was smooth, excellent, and without incident. I am still working through a huge backlog of soaps. I love the scent of this one, but I am hoping the tub goes quickly so I can move onto a new scent.
Other Stuff
Had a minor procedure done on Friday and I am recovering. I took the week off of work to get the process started.
I had my guitar lesson tonight. I am still loving the instrument. My instructor is really cool also. He says I have made noticeable improvement over the holidays.

My first shave with a Paladin
Shave Stuff
The shave was excellent. It has been a long time since I used a badger brush (like, well over a year). I am a synthetic brush person normally. But, the knot on this brush felt incredibly soft with just a little bit of scritch here and there. It felt really good on my face. I had forgotten just how much lather badger knot hog. It took me a while to rinse it clean after the shave. The EJ DE89 treated me well as always. This is another piece of gear that has been gathering dust in my collection. It was nice to pull it out and get reacquainted.
Other Stuff
Enjoying my time off of work, but feel a tiny bit guilty about taking the time. I don't like leaving my open support cases in the hands of my coworkers. They have enough to do without having to handle my stuff too. But the break is nice, and probably needed. It will be nice to get back to it on Monday.

First straight shave in a long time

I felt like a straight shave for the first time in a very long time. I should have chosen one of my straights with a round toe. I got my angle a little off, so the toe bit down in front of my left ear. Also, I scraped the heck out of my neck. I am really out of practice my straight razors.

I have started getting interested in Locksport. Learning to pick locks is quite fun.

Another Timeless shave
Shave Stuff
This was my second shave with the .38mm plate on the bronze Timeless. Both shaves have been great. The smaller gap really helps. The bronze Timeless still needs some TLC since the blade is held in a rather flat position in the razor head. It just requires riding the cap a little more than with many other razors. Go slow and listen to what your skin is telling you and things will go well.
I like the scent of Mike's Hungarian Lavender. It is also a good performer. I am really going to enjoy 3017ing this soap.

Hey Doug - looks like you just jumped back into the Cadre after a long break...which I can very much relate to!
I also just recently gave myself a full face shave with a straight (after using them only for cheeks and neck for almost a year), and found that my technique was not perfect...but was better than I imagined it might be, which was a nice surprise. That Genco Easy Aces is a sweet looking razor!

The Easy Aces is a fantastic razor, but the square toe on it requires better technique than I have right now. I think I might need to stick to round toe straights for a while. Also, if you are shopping for vintage steel, anything Genco in good condition is worth picking up.
I have (I think) only one Genco razor (with translucent yellow scales), and although I haven't shaved with it in a very long while, I recall liking it a lot, once I managed to get a decent edge on it (my eternal honing stuggle...!).
It's interesting you say that thing about round toes - I have, I believe, only one round toe razor, an ERN Crown & Sword that I absolutely adore. I don't know why I haven't made the effort to acquire more of them.
