Getting better every day

Shave Quality
Yesterday was a decent shave. I still had some irritation, but it didn't last long. Today's shave was better. Felt a little irritated right after the shave, but it is much better now. I am calling them both BBS-.

Gear
The Baili razor is a mild and Tech-like shaver that was ultra-cheap when I got it from eBay years ago. It won't ever be an heirloom, but it is serviceable.

Shark Platinum is a great blade. Easily as good as Astra SP, IMO. Try them.

The fragrances are really great. I am loving all of them. Aromatherapy works, I guess.
Aramis Adventurer was good with its seaweed note.
The leather of Michael Kors for Men is so, so good. This is the reformulated version from 2014.

Other Thoughts
I really want to get back to my old routine. I miss my gaming nights.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that people would mix Cremo shaving cream with less slicker soaps to get more volume and slickness.

Yup. That is a thing.

I prefer to use Kiss My Face unscented shave cream (find it in the women's shaving section at the grocery store) for "superlathering" like that. You can also get a bottle of glycerin from the pharmacy and add a couple of drops to "uberlather" and improve slickness.

About as good as it is going to get

Shave Quality
Today's shave was pretty good, full-on BBS with very little irritation. I have had great results with this razor in the past. Today's results were pretty good, but not the best. I may try adding a couple drops of glycerin to my lather bowl tomorrow to help boost the performance of this cream. It might help.

Gear
The Maca Root cream really is starting to feel really mediocre. It just isn't as protective as some other products that I have used recently. Is it time to kick it to the curb?

Sunday Brunch is a great scent. I don't think it is going to have the greatest longevity, however. We'll see.

Other Thoughts
Podcasting tonight for the first time in months. That should be fun.

Overview
A really great straight shave.

Two passes with the Ralf Aust. One pass with the PAA DOC Ascension plus a tiny bit of cleanup. It was an excellent BBS. The added glycerin definitely helped the cream perform better. This was the best shave that I have had from the Maca Root so far.

Gear
Ralf Aust makes a really great straight razor.

A shave product shouldn't need adulteration to work well, but adding a few drops of glycerin really improved the Maca Root. It actually gave a fairly decent shave today.

English Laundry Signature is a great summer scent. It is mainly lavender, musk, and sandalwood, soft and soapy clean. I sprayed it heavily so it has been going for over six hours. Happily it is a light scent so overspraying isn't really a problem. I can see wearing this one often.

Other Thoughts
Having a do nothing day.

Overview
A very close shave

Shave Quality
Two passes with the Feather and one with the Schick. That last pass was a little too much. The razor burn is mostly gone now, 5 hours later. The shave was BBS, but the irritation was real. I just like to go too far with my straight shaves. The lather was great.

Gear
The Feather with the ProGuard is a really decent shaver. I need to spend more time with it. I also need to be more careful with my passes while using it.

I like the Santal Sky. It is a nice fragrance. I mostly get sandalwood and vetiver. I don't get much of the saffron and cardamom. It is a rainy day sort of scent that I like very much.

Other Thoughts
Looking forward to the Zoom call and the brush that is on the way.

Really could have been better.

Shave Quality
Got a small pin-prick sized nick yesterday. It wasn't worth mentioning. Today it opened up wider, thus it is worth mentioning. I don't think my angle was off. I am wondering if I hit a small bump in the skin or something? Quite ouchy. Three straight shaves in a row, the last two with the Feather SS, have shown me that I am not great with a straight razor, and that a traditional straight works better for me (but that could be due to familiarity). Today's shave (even with a small bit of cleanup on the neck with the PAA DOC Ascension) was DFS. I did give myself less razor burn than yesterday, but I still have irritation. 2 hours later it is disappearing fast. The Maca Root ASB combined with the Nivea ASB really calms my skin down. The Lucky Tiger Vanishing Cream also helps. It wasn't a bad shave overall. But, perhaps the ProGuard blade isn't the best thing on my skin? Maybe I will give a Feather Pro a try? Tomorrow will definitely be something different.

Gear
Today was better with the Feather. I feel like I should be able to get a better shave with it than I did today.

There are few things as good as 4711.

Other Thoughts
Some Mondays are killer.
