The reason I liked where my wife got hers ( Walgreens ) is when we set up her first appointment they automatically set up her 2nd shot for 28 days later... She was supposed to get Moderna but they had pfizer yesterday when she went so that's what they gave her.. The point was Walgreens automatically set up both appointments when you make the first so No guesswork and no trying to get a 2nd appointment.. Its automatic.

Ya, the whole supply thing still sucks. We just got an email pointing out that we have 900,000 members between 50-64 years old and over 2 million 16-49. But we only get 55,000-75,000 doses a week.

I'm liking what I am seeing with a good bit of data coming out about the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. CDC came out with information a couple days ago stating that 14 days after the first dose of either of these two had a 80% effectiveness. First of all...yeah.. I know it is hard to trust sometimes what the CDC says. However, information from studies like these I believe generally reliable. Also, I do understand that these numbers are really high (concerning effectiveness) and as more data comes in...these percentages are likely to decrease a little. That being said...what this study signals to me is that even after one shot, the vaccines started to do what they were supposed to do and began protecting people form the Sars Cov 2. It is VERY encouraging at the very least. Then after the second shot, it is 90% effective. Don't get me wrong...I think everyone should get the two shot series...but it's hard to not think that it might be best if everyone was able to get at least that first shot and work on that second shot for the most vulnerable first. Yeah, I know...it's a slippery slope when you start to think that way. But if the data is correct...you get the best bang for your buck with that first shot.

By the way...getting my second shot tomorrow.

Is that for just your hospital system?

It's interesting to hear how each of your states are rolling out the priorities for the vaccines. Our governor went ahead and opened the vaccines up to anyone over the age of 16 just this week. But I am hearing that some of you who are in their 50s are still waiting for the ability to even schedule. That's kind of crazy to me.

Yeah my state was crazy my wife who is considered an essential frontline just got hers yesterday and today they opened it up for 16 and up anyone..

I questioned getting shots at all because I’ve already recovered and should have some of my own antibodies. Spouse unit suggested I go ahead and get the shots so I can be really loaded with antibodies. Then I can donate plasma (if they will let me donate). Second shot is this Friday.

Both my wife and I have had 2 shots, I qualified due to a health issue and my wife as a teacher. My daughter, who is 17, qualified as a child care worker for the first round of J&J vaccines released, but could not get one because J&J are only for 18 and over. We called the local hospital and explained what was going on and they added her to the list (they had the Pfizer vaccine which is 16 and older). We were shocked that a week or so later they actually sent a text with a scheduled date and she was able to get her first shot a couple weeks ago.

My wife volunteered for the first and only local clinic we had a week ago through our hospital, her job was to call people on the list and schedule people for appointments. They actually ran out of people to call and opened it up to other people not in phase A1. She said the list was very large but many of the people had gotten the shot elsewhere (we both drove an hour to get ours). The funny part was that my wife got called while she was volunteering from a women 2 seats down from her.

My wife told me earlier today that they are opening it up for everyone 18 and over on April 5th and a week later for those 16 and up in Pennsylvania.

I might be in luck as well, as our community is considered a hotspot (Lucky me to live here. :cautious:) Over-50s can register for the shot during our "Pahse-2" roll-out, which is supposed to start "in April" according to the website, but no actual date given. Needless to say, I shall be checking the site daily to see when they open it up for me. As of this morning, we're still in the "Phase-1" rollout.

Our provincial numbers do not look good and we're expecting to go into lockdown province-wide 12:01am Saturday.
