Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Sweet mercy, the no answer with that news would get the blood pressure up like a rocket for sure. Glad that's how the story ended.

Glad your wife and mother decided to skip the jewelry store! Strangely enough we had a similar situation this morning about a mile from my house. Thankfully it was at a location no one I know would be at, but still scary that it was so close to home.

So glad the family is safe Chad. That is one of my worst fears. We lost a friend from church several years ago when the guy shot Gabby Giffords here in Tucson. He was a great man and managed to save his wife who was with him. God was watching out for your family today for sure.

Well yesterday I had a flood of emotions and was more scared than I have ever been. The only thing that came close was when my son was transported via ambulance after a seizure in a hospital to another hospital. I bought my wife's wedding ring from a place at the local mall. In order to keep the warranty every 6 months she has to go back and have it inspected, cleaned, and prongs tightened if needed. I always joke this is where they swap the diamond out for a fake. Anyways Sadie was down for her nap and my mom came over and her and my wife went out they were going to go get the ring inspected and grab lunch, this was 1PM. Well while Connor is playing Legos I grab my phone to check Twitter. There I see it, "Active Shooter at Fashion Place Mall." I immediately go into a panic and try calling my wife. No answer. I call my mom no answer. I call my wife back, she answers and I am freaking out. Thankfully for whatever reason they decided to NOT go get the ring inspected and instead went to lunch at a restaurant at the opposite end of town. After all the facts came in it was found out to be a gang issue, but that moment was just a reminder of how precious life is.

have a good day Cadre

Thank goodness the family is safe!

How does AA compare to Stirling scent wise?

I like it better, no clove. The AS is cologne like and lasts me all day. You might see if they have samples. I’m still working on a tub I picked up in a PIF.

I don’t have anything to put samples in or I’d send ya some.

Wow, glad it didn't affect your family Chad. These are getting to be very frequent events everywhere

Agreed and thanks Dave.

Thanks Dave. And my blood pressure was through the roof I am sure.

Yikes! Glad your family was safe. The man upstairs was watching out for you for sure!

Thanks Chris. I am so thankful that my wife and mom opted to not go.

I saw that while perusing Twitter for information. Very sad.

Wow, that is so sad. And yes it is my worst nightmare also.

Agreed. Thanks Tim

Well today was another shave with the Trade Winds. And today was the first day where I wanted something different. So I think I am going to start using different colognes, I am burning through this soap pretty quickly and I think I only have about 15 or 16 shaves left. So really don't want to quit and not planning on it. But this morning was the first morning where I had a desire for something different. Perhaps it is because of the couple of new soaps I am itching to use.

Today while using the Stirling Finest Fan I have been using a lot of badger brushes as of late, and I own a few top quality knots, a Paladin, Shavemac Finest, Envy Luxury, Envy White 2, Simpsons best, and a whipped dog. Here is my off the cuff ranking of them best to worst based on badger performance:

Paladin
Stirling
Envy White 2
Envy Luxury
Simpsons Best
Whipped Dog

basically what I am getting at is if you haven't tried a Stirling Badger... you should! Especially with the sale going on currently.

Was happy to hear that the two shooters from Sunday where caught yesterday. Sadly they were 19 years old. now their lives are ruined. So sad the world we live in now. I am of the belief that these things while they appear to be happening more regularly actually aren't, it's just that reporting and the internet have created this belief. Anyways we have a storm setting in that will be here til Friday. Not supposed to be a big producer of snow, but still big enough to make roads slick and remove the pollution from the valley. This is the first winter where the pollution is so bad I actually feel like it is affecting my breathing.

Have a good day cadre.

Nice shave. Haven't checked out the blade thoughts yet though...

As for the frequency of incidents like yesterday I would generally agree that we just became more aware of them. The only exception being the more planned out attacks. I believe that the way the media covers them has actually encouraged some to go that route in order to get that bigger audience. It's really sad if that is indeed the case and I hope I'm wrong but the media makes the worst kind of celebrity every single time so idk.

You can have an asterisk too Chad. All you have to do is “overestimate” a little and you’re on your way to new soaps! ??? Just kidding. Sounds like you doing pretty good if you’re only just now getting the itch. Tradewinds must be a real winner for you.

I tend to agree with you Kyle. While I don't necessarily think these things are happening more often than they used to, I think now in some cases people are doing it because of the media attention it brings.

I do really like the trade winds. The weird things is how strong the cucumber smell is in the aftershave on initial application. Thankfully once it dries down the scent is a winner. And I got my first compliment on it yesterday.... FINALLY!

Well what feels like should be the halfway point I am sure will take longer. The question is how much longer? I really feel like this soap will be gone at the end of the month. But will not be surprised if it goes into February a little bit. I do really like the soap and the scent which is making this easier. But I still will probably not be a 3017er after this. I have toyed with the idea of using each soap for a week straight? Or maybe 2-3 shaves straight. Who knows? Anyways this challenge is fun.

Homefront:

Well you guys ask for them and while they might seem run of the mill to me you guys might get some laughs out of them. But this exchange happened yesterday.

Coach(during timeout): Why did you call that foul?
Me: Your defender was using an arm bar preventing the offensive player's movement. Arm bars are illegal.
Coach: really?
Me: yes
Coach: I have played basketball and you are wrong I have never heard of this.
Me: Coach that's fine but for this game arm bars are illegal so you might want to talk to your players about that during this time out. By the way you have 15 seconds left in the timeout.

Coach turns around and walks away.

have a good day Cadre

Yes, funny exchange there. I agree the a week or 2-3 days sounds reasonable and doable. Give us our lineups for February and I'll sign up ?
