Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Sorry to hear about your family’s loss Chad. My wife’s side of the family just had something similar happen recently to a long time friend of the family. Her memorial was just this last weekend.

It is quite sobering. Prayers for comfort sent!

Thanks Chris. The services will most likely be this saturday.

Some great soap choices these past couple days. Its been far too long sing I used the Capt Choice North, that is a scent that is very enjoyable.

I did end up going to Costco but my bill was far lower than you might expect. I didn't bother with the liquor isle (just wasn't feeling it) and stuck with the very short list. My wife was waiting for her flu shot while I ran through and grabbed everything, I spent about $100 and was checked out and had my stuff in the back of the truck before my wife finished her flu shot.

That is a long time for a flu shot. I imagine it was because the line was long?

Razor: Timeless .68
Blade: Graham Field (1)
Soap/cream: Fine Lavender Pour Homme
Brush: Fine Stout
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Fine Lavender Pour Homme

Well today I had a shave. It was the most uncomfortable shave I have ever had with a DE. You can check out the Razor Blade review to see why. The soap though was excellent. I don't use this soap as much as I probably should but I do really enjoy it. The scent is very nice but is truthfully not something I would like to use on a daily basis.

Not much to really report. The funeral services will most likely be on Saturday. I will get to see some family from out of town that I don't see very often, but wish it was for better circumstances. Anyways have a good day Cadre.

Good shave? ? looking forward to seeing the video.

Hope the service goes smoothly and the family has safe travels.

That was a horrible shave!

Razor: Timeless .68
Blade: Graham Field (2)
Soap/cream: Honey Bee Soaps Mountain Meadow
Brush: Stirling Boar
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Jeeves Mountain Rain

Well today I reached for a soap that hasn't been used in awhile and that is the Honey Bee Soap. I get pretty good lathers out of this Tier 2 soap, and the extra slickness was very nice today. Using the spring scented soap and aftershave I am trying to protest the cold. It isn't working LOL. The blade on the other hand was horrible and didn't even complete the first pass before I threw it away. And switched to my INJECTAH to finish the shave.

Had a Knight of Columbus meeting yesterday evening and the Thanksgiving baskets that we are handing out this weekend was the big topic. We are prepared to give a full thanksgiving meal and week's worth of food along with it to stock pantries to 80 needy families, as well as providing coats, boots, and gloves to 125 kids. It is going to be a very busy weekend but well worth the smiles.

have a great day Cadre.

That's awesome how many families you guys are helping out.

Thanks. It is one of the best events we do.

Agreed. 80 and 125 is a lot!

It certainly is. And growing. We are hoping to be at 100 families and 200 coats for kids next year. All 80 families this year will be getting another box a week before Christmas from us this year with more pantry food, and all the fixings to have a nice Ham dinner. Each family will get a spiral ham.

Sure, I've always been curious about it since the old days but never got in on it back then.

Make sure you VLOG it!!
I'll take your request under consideration

I believe it is required LOL!

Sorry to hear about your family news, Chad.

And as far as shaving stuff goes: Why do you keep torturing yourself with crummy blades and "wasting" shaves?

Razor: Karve Razor Plate C
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Soap/cream: CBL Harvest Oud
Brush: Razorock Beehive
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Cherry City Roasted Oatmeal Stout

Well today's shave had to better than yesterday. It just has to be! And well it was. The CBL Harvest Oud is a fantastic scent and a favorite of mine, it will discolor your water a bit, but the scent is amazing! The pumpkin is there but not overpowering, and I don't detect any of the pumpkin pie notes that I despise like cinnamon. Just in case you didn't know this how you are supposed to eat pumpkin pie

Anyways the razor. The razor actually performed pretty well. Definitely mild at this plate level. But the shave was rather enjoyable and effortless. The quality is definitely nice. Being a brass razor it will tarnish over time unless you commit to clean it regularly and polish it, which if I owned one is what I would want to do. I am curious to try some of the more aggressive plates over the next few days before making my final decision on this razor. But thank you Dave in KY for allowing me to try this razor it is greatly appreciated. My research though has left me optimistic because the price seems very reasonable.

Well taking the day off tomorrow to due to services tomorrow and Saturday for the family member who passed away. Tomorrow evening I also have the first basketball game of the season. So trading in the wide football stripes for the skinny basketball stripes.

Hope you all have a great day!

Sorry to hear about your family news, Chad.\n\nAnd as far as shaving stuff goes: Why do you keep torturing yourself with crummy blades and \"wasting\" shaves?
\n\nThanks Chris. And well I was making comments that I could get a good shave with pretty much any blade now, and technique is more important. And while I believe that the statement is mostly true. KJ had to prove me wrong and sent me a Graham Field blade. There is no salvaging that blade! \n\n
Glad to see you finally used a good blade!
\n\nThat I did!\n\n
Have a peaceful weekend Chad. Sorry for your family\'s loss . \n\n
\n\nThank you.
