@CBLindsay i used to buy this loccitane soap that was half side almond oil iirc and then half side of citrus (mandarin or clementine) iirc. It was awesome. They discontinued it though. 
very unique and so nice. I know you arent trying to do all kinds of soap but maybe something you interested in.
