BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

Thanks for getting back to me Dave! I have been reading up on the talc powder relation to cancer. From what I can gather if the company had good QC then the product should be fine. I need to read a bit more though. Also, that razor is stunning! And I feel like it fits nicely with the blue honeycomb brush!

Well I counted this as multiple shaves, as during the live workshop today it was all over the place with both the Feather and Ti. Has a ton of fun with the Guys on the Zoom call and it will be posted in the tutorial section soon. Even @NurseDave did his shave live as well, but due to me being a bonehead I may have not hit record at that point as we were yaking about all things SR /Shavette / Hair / Honing. etc, etc, etc

This was our 1st live workshop so it is a bit all over the place, but for the 1st one, I think it went well. My face complained a bit as I was doing multiple thing with different razors, however all in all a good workshop and shave. So 156 passes ( Kidding ) DSBBBSBBSBBSBBS, and nice finish with AB and Rive Gauche. Had a great time doing this and hope it was informative albeit LONG.

I want to thank all those that attended, and we missed those that could not. Thanks to @Cvargo for setting up the meeting and hanging around a bit. I will post a link to the full uncut video here and look for it in the Forum media section under tutorials.

Tried the lathering @Doug Bear method that has been floating around today, based on @Spider 's video and had the results I expected 2.5 out of 5 for 1st attempt but some interesting revelations as well. I had rejected it outright, but decided to give it a go. There is a video posted in that thread in the General forum as well as on my Shave Vlog. Shave today went well, with a bit less irritation, due to ingredients, based in large part to that lathering method and the less use of soap. My concerns are that doing soap this way may leach essential oils, fragrance and properties over time as an emulsion is created and thus dilutes these items and since you are no leaving these in the concentration if this ingredients is in the cap, which you do not use all of, therefore most of it goes down the drain. Over time, it could, render a fragrant soap much less potent, and remove some of the items that make the soap proper. More experimentation on this front is needed. I have over 500 soaps so I do not need to save and this would just prolong shelf space and in the case of Pdp, or L'Occitane it could literally me a Century before those soaps could be used.

3-passes today for DSBBS, although the face is still a bit raw from yesterday's workshop, but the TI was gentle and the Balm ( which I rarely use) was a nice change. A few Vasilli's of the French Juice and a good Sunday

Another Good shave although trying the "Bear" Method on an Elite soap was a fail for me. Way to runny and not what I am used to with the SV products. Slickness was off glide was off and post-pass slickness was off, not to mention just the extra work to get a usable lather. I had expected, that an Elite soap would be very easy on this, but as was the case in trying the "Marco Method" it just did not work. Based on these results, I do not hold much hope but the lower tiered soap worked better and if the trend keeps up will I be able to get a usable lather from Crabtree & Evelyn, or Eucris…… BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Thankfully SV soap is so good that it still gave a decent shave and the rest was made up my the MK*33. If the MK*32 is the Queen this is the evil mistress. She will slice you open in a heart beat if you treat her wrong, she is as ugly as Frey's Daughters on GOT, but has it where it counts. at 7/8 it lumbers but still has the feel of the rest of the family, which is what gets you in trouble. Luckily she was nice today and gave me a 3-pass VSBBS. As Jeff coined the new Shaving Phrase Velveteen Smooth BBS shave LOL Felce for the win on the aftershave front with a couple of drops. some talc and EF for the EDT win

This shave was just plain, off the charts amazing DSBBSx2..... Times two you ask? Well a funny thing happened on the way..... While videotaping, the phone rang, thus automatically pausing the video..... Thought I had restarted, untiL I realized it was some 18 minutes later. no video, No Review, ETC. After a few choice adjectives, I was left with a decision. Do the written Review with no back up, forget the whole thing and burn the house down, or with this product being SOOO good after the 1st time, just re-do the whole shave from start to finish. Guess what I chose?

So yes, another 1st for BarberDave.... A 6-pass DSBBSx2 Shave. Rather that go on.... the link to the Video and written review are below
