Was rainy and cold this morning while I waited for the contractor to finish up our pavers and gravel work here at the ranch. This guy is the best! Rain or shine he worked all morning. I was glad he got doe by mid- morning so I could move and place 2-tons of River Rock to line the driveway. Thankfully, or stupidly, I shave at the pre-dawn light, not realizing that these old bones and muscle are not quite in the strength arena they used to be.
The shave went perfectly with 3-passes and DSBBBS and the use of two aftershave complimented each other
I do most of the work around the ranch and have always found the resources to feel ok when moving stuff around. However, as
@NurseDave pointed out on another area I am in desperate need of a Yard Tractor. Loading 6-12 River Rock, with some 100LB boulders mixed in made be realize, that after the blood clot a few years back that the strength in my legs is flat gone, when it comes to placing stones, bending down, and then regretting, and figuring a way to stand back up.
Was supremely upset at myself for only getting halfway done ( 125 linear feet ) plus some paver work to hold in the gravel at the front of the gate. I was literally spent, and toward the end, I have to be quite resourceful on how I was planning to stand back up, and try to walk. When I finally did, I felt as if the legs were wet noodles.... Thanks J&J!.
Anyway getting back to the house was akin to climbing Everest. It probably did not help I was wearing some work boots, that had the arch support of a flat brick. The problem happened when I sat down and my legs said
"Screw you" I am done. Thankfully a VERY Hot shower, a beer, and a cigar assisted, but did not alleviate the pain... Just to think I only have about 250 linear feet to go.... YAY ME!Not to mention Tree shopping and Holes for said trees. Thankfully
@AvocadoQueen is not shy in getting her hands dirty as well... All the pain is worth it seeing her smile, as the Micro-Climate comes together, and her able to sift though 2-Tons of the river rock to find the perfect stone to do her art on.
So a muscle relaxer was, and is in order.
Sadly it is humbling to realize at 59 yrs of age, that you cannot do some of the things you used to ( Clot notwithstanding ) and considering what I did in the service, not to mention that I am on my feet for 14-16 hours a day, you become self aware of your limitation whens it comes to certain tasks that require certain strengths that you may never get back.
Anyway, blathering over have a Great day and...
