Well…. Sorry Orion, Sorry Pannacrema, you will now have to sit in spots 3 and 4 in the den as this, and Spaghetti Western have basically told you to “Hold their Beer”. With the Litsea taking over 1st place. This stuff is UNREAL!

Litsea Cubeba, better know as May Chang, or Mountain pepper is a plant grown in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and even Malaysia. The face and health benefits are wide. The fragrance is completely in my wheelhouse and is SUPER POTENT.

Lemon, Lemongrass, a hint of mint, and pepper. Simply perfect. As to performance it is the best IMHO of not only all other @CBLSoap.com offerings, but of all other soaps period!

Loading is almost instantaneous and a 10 second load with a badger is more than enough, with a synth, may just touch the soap LOL.

Performance beats Hombres Dos as well. The Star here is, aside from all the other perfection, is the performance and slickness. Perfect!

As to “Matchy-Matchy”. This again, was perfect. The Ethos shares notes , as does the 1962. But even with all that olfactory nirvana the soap stays strong even 6 hours later

Chris already had his crowning achievement, so will call versus crowning achievement part deux

Thanks @CBLindsay

Have a fantastic Friday Folks

It’s Friday, it’s time for a nice DE shave before headed to the shop early early this morning I didn’t want to do a final comparison of the Nuavia versus the new CBL offerings and although this is a great soap, it just confirms that CBL is now the top two soaps in the den

The Nero is a wonderfully citrus, clean sand that matches with everything I did use a Penhaligon’s Endymion Concentre for the EdP’s for a perfect shave for a very warm afternoon

Hope everybody has a stupendous Saturday

Can you say TRAIN WRECK? No, not what you are thinking.... The Wreck occurred in the Folds of my apparent empty Brain!

Keeping track of the Shaves of the Decades Series, seems to be hard for my old brain to keep up with, as far as, what decade I am supposed to be reviewing (See video for the tragedy, and a Monty Python Reference). There is a COOL hat though.
Anyway.... It was supposed to be 1920-1930 not 1910-1920 which I had completed last week. It was Sharon's Birthday so my mind was on other things.... Ya that is the excuse I will use!

So Vintage, Vintage Vintage.

The Williams is time period correct with the Williams Barber Bar, and the Razor is a 1922 Gem. I had forgotten I had this on display at the BarberShop with other Vintage thingies. The Aqua Velva... well the bottle anyway is pretty close to time correct, although the juice is not. A pretty good representation of the time period, although my onset Alzheimer's

Very nice DFS shave today. That Gem Blade is falling off for sure.

Have a Blessed Sunday Folks
Sorry @Spider and @Luecke3262 Colgate is still better

08.07.2023 Shave Across the Decades Part 5
1930-1940

British Aristocrat # 15 / King Gillette Blade
Sheffield Silver Brush / Rough Badger
Palmolive Shave Stick
Alum
Thayer's Lemmon
Skin Bracer

08.07.2023.JPEG

Continued Shaves Across the Decades, with 1930-1940 on the Agenda for the day. What a difference a day makes. The 1938 Crat is wonderful, albeit an aggressive beast. Surprisingly, the King Gillette Blade was extremely smooth. Not a Personna , of course, however it did the job well and some 4 hours later still DSBBS. Palmolive is just a great soap. Not much else needs to be stated. All other items worked well, although I now know why I relegated the Brush to talc duty, way to floppy for a badger from that time period. Thankfully Anthrax free ( see video from yesterday for an explanation on that tidbit )

Those that poo-poo Old time Drugstore scents and aftershaves are just plain crazy! Skin bracer, like Aqua Velva, Brut, Old Spice, English Leather, British Stirling, and of course AVON, are just perfect and can stand up to anything currently produced, and even have better longevity, especially for an aftershave. Today is Barber errand day and followed by the LIVE show of Drinks N Daves on Youtube at 6 pm Pacific. Join us on Barberdave's Shaves & Such and Nurse Dave's Shaving World for the Live broadcast

So, a great shave

08 August 2023 ; Shaves Across the Decades - 1940-1950 @Fenster

Military Issue Shave Kit / Camp Kit
Genco Easy Aces 11/16
Everyready 100T / Original Board Ca 1940's
Seaforth Heather Shave Soap
Alum
Thayers Lemon
Seaforth Heather Aftershave Tonic
Clubman Talc

08.08.2023.JPEG

We continue with Part 6 of our series on Video. Although most all of these items were avail in the 1940's Only the Soap and aftershave are homage and modern. The Seaforth brand was a mainstay in the 40's as was Williams, as it joined out boys in Europe as well as the Pacific Theatre.

The Shave kit is Time specific and an interesting item to have, and for the most part was self contained, milk glass bowl, brush and holder, mirror ( silvered ) and a holder for a DE or Straight ( that has long since been broken off. Hinges are getting a bit weak with rust, but overall it is still in pretty good shape for +80 yrs old.

The Razor is just perfection in an American Razor, Genco, purchased by Case, has a nice engraving, and Blueing with Bradford, PA. deep set. Original scales and just a perfect shave tool. 3-passes today and DSBBS+ a finish with the Thayers, Aftershave Tonic, and talc and ready to have a nice dat (My Sunday), maybe a cocktail, or 2, and a cigar, some Comida Mexicana and stuff, before headed back to the shop manana.

Hope everyone is having a Terrific Tuesday!

~Cheers

I know Shane says he was inspired by Taipei 101, but that handle looks like he was looking for his inner Jedi.

The idea of an inner weight that can shift the center of gravity and adjust the weight of the razor is an interesting concept.

The open holes in the middle of the razor look like they might be uncomfortable on the fingers and a pain to keep clean. Should be an interesting razor no matter what.

Well, he doesn’t do anything without thinking about complete ergonomics and everything else so I think it’ll probably be good. I can’t wait to buy one.

I Agree. He is a very thoughtful razor designer, and clearly invests himself into each project. I love my Vector.

10 August 2023
Schick Injector
Shavemac colonia no 1
Penhaligon’s Bayolea shave soap
Alum
Quinn’s pink grapefruit Orange rind
Omega Acquae
Penhaligon’s Bayolea aftershave
Penhaligon’s Sports Car Club EdP

IMG_2265.jpeg
While digging through the archives, preparing for my next set of vids, I found the injector. It has been a long while…. So Why Not?
Also using a few of Pen’s unobtanium in the Bayolea. A modern version of a Barbershop scent. It was only s around a short time but is very nice. Sadly the soaps of the non-tallow Penhaligon’s are pretty sad as far as performance, except for Sartorial, which is very nice

Not knowing the age of the blade, it was a chance, and, as figured the 1st pass was like driving on. Pennsylvania road in spring. Rough! Not to mention getting angles and pressure right

To complicate things, the soap had ZERO residual slickness. Passes 2-3 were better and overall a BBS shave. Had to call an audible with the Aquae, as I took every last bit of moisture out of my face. That and the blade made for an interesting experience

Have a Terrific Thursday folks

Dave's face after his shave.......

It was just the 1st pass 2 and 3 went perfect and my model good looks are still intact, so Stephan does not have to worry, as I know he models himself after my devastatingly good looks

🥰🥰😘
