Avon Vintage Aftershaves!

Okay fellas! I ave been sitting on a NOS bottle of Deep Woods in the Little Brown Jug, so I am gonna have to bring it out to play.

And what should I find today after a short Google search? That same fragrance in the Colt 1851 Revolver! Pretty stoked to see that one show up.

Well? What are you waiting for!

My mother used to sell Avon many moons ago. Once in a while she’d give me a little sample vial of a cologne or something to play around with. Can’t remember any of the scents, but good memories!

I had a vintage DE razor-shaped bottle of Spicy fall into my lap a little while before I started my traditional wet shaving journey. Still absolutely love it, and have added a couple other bottles of Spicy and one of Oland to the mix. Island Lime, Everest, Windjammer, and Tai Winds are all on the Must Buy list as well.

Pics of my 3 and a couple questions. 1) How do you use these car bottles etc? After you pour some in one hand you can't set bottle down so have to apply with one hand unless there is a trick. 2) What is Bracing lotion? Maybe our resident specialist KJ could help. On with the pics. Have Island Lime, Spicy and Tai Winds.

Usually the cars are designed to be set down either on their front, or balanced on the top and the hood. There is usually a diagram on the box (inside flaps) showing you how to rest them.

I don’t like that and that’s why I transferred all of mine into Avon Apothecary bottles.

Ive asked about bracing lotion before and nobody has any idea. It’s either an aftershave, a body splash, or somewhere in between.

Actually I believe all the bottles will sit standing so it won't spill. I have Windjammer in a truck and it will stand on the nose of the truck so the opening of the bottle is up in the air. Some of them don't look like they will...but the do. Check it out.

Could the bracing lotion be a pre-shave? Like for electric razors? Probably not and I don't know. Just a thought.

This makes sense.

Possibility. Let's me know I don't want to buy a bottle with it.

Bracing just means fresh and invigorating. Like Skin Bracer, which is an aftershave. I’ve used Avon’s Bracing Lotion as an aftershave and it is just fine.

Avon did make a Pre-Electic Lotion and it is called Electric Pre-Shave. And incidentally, I have used that as an aftershave, and I like it a lot.

Try the nose first. Most cars were designed to stand in the nose.

Duh, yep! Nose first works for everything except the boat
