An Unexpected Journey: A Newbie's Walk In Wet Shaving

Why do I have the feeling his signature will be a listing of the different body parts he's cut with a razor?

I am sure you are looking forward to getting the surgery done and over with. Sounds like you have everything planned and ready to go! I will be saying a prayer for you.

Thanks for the prayers Don. A lot of people will be praying on the 25th for me.

I know who you are referring to smart guy. 🤪

I thought I might draw you out of your forge for a little while with that comment 😁

Perfect, but I think it will be a small group of one at this point unless anyone else cares to admit to lacerations below the neck 😆

I have a big scar that goes from my sternum to about three inches past my belly button...but it wasn't because of a shaving accident in the shower.

This morning was one of the best shaves of my life. Seems everything fell into place and I had just nothing but success.

Today's Shave: Shave #137

Razor: Parker Variant - Graphite handle / Chinese knock-off of Feather Kamisori Style
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Eric's Lignum Vitae Hand Turned Brush Handle, 22 mm Boss Knot
Soap: WSP Black Vanille
Bowl: Red Salsa Bowl (plastic)
Pre Shave: Wash with soap in the shower . Rub raw soap on face from the puck.
Total Razor on Face Time: 9 minutes
Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel (Walmart Brand) face only, Cold rinse. WSP Black Vanille AS Balm to the face only. Mammoth painting.

After building a great lather I got started. I set the razor at 3.5 and left it there through all 3 passes and then did a clean-up pass on 1.5. Every single pass seemed like I was gliding on slick wonderfulness. This was the 5th shave on this razor and I'm wondering if the SB blade is just starting to hit its stride. What I touched on yesterday with the pressure and lack of over doing the clean-ups has all contributed to any daily irritation subsiding for the most part. I've mentioned it before, but I can't say it enough that me figuring out that each pass is simply just a reduction process is really one of those turning points for me in my wet shaving experience. I used to believe that the goal was to get the face as smooth as possible with each pass, but I realize now that I have 3 passes to get there so lean back and enjoy the ride! This morning I did that and got a very comfortable BBS / BBS- shave.

Been there as well. I had a late night dance with a pine tree that totaled my 79 Olds Cutlass. It was the start of a new life though and I should have died that night.

Mine was more of a dance with a 1 Ton GMC in the same lane I was in. Only I wasn't supposed to be in that lane. Glad you are still with us! :)

Important safety take away. Try not to hit stuff in the road! Although I landed myself in a ditch trying to avoid a critter in the road once! I guess trying not to wreck is good! 🚗
