An Unexpected Journey: A Newbie's Walk In Wet Shaving

You could always skip PT an do Yoga?

In all seriousness though...do what you gotta do to get better. March is just around the corner. And the way they do hip replacements now is practically witch craft! A lot better than it used to be!

One guy running around these parts in leggings is enough thank you!

Pushed a little today too and a bit of irritation no doubt from the colder temps we got recently after a warm up subsided. Have a good day Mike

Seriously, glad I'm not the only one who pushed it too far this morning.

It’s not boring if you’re enjoying it!

30ish minutes for a new hip hm? That is pretty crazy. I’d probably spill my lunch at the rate things are flying around

I've watched the surgery twice on YouTube. The first time was just after eating spaghetti for lunch....mmmmm, yeah, that wasn't the best of ideas

Lots of ice and freezing rain at my place last night, but the roads were just wet.

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel (Walmart Brand) face only, Cold rinse. Every Man Jack AS balm to the face only. Mammoth painting.

SOBS again. I wish I could say more, but I did the same shave as yesterday. I did less clean-up to avoid making any residual irritation left from yesterday worse. Overall, BBS and held the line on irritation.

One thing that's clicking lately is I'm really relaxing while shaving. I'm not into the whole zen stuff, but there is a zone that I compare to an artistic state of mind I'm used to while doing artwork. It feels like that zone for me. I've also been watching more shave videos and tried today to take long strokes from the top of my face down to the bottom of my neck. I see some doing this, but historically I've always done one stroke down to the jaw line across one side of my face and then resumed by doing all the strokes on my neck. The jury is still out on the longer strokes to see how it works for me.

Definitely try the longer strokes, but keep in mind there is no right or wrong way. As long as you’re not losing the blade horizontally across your face. That would be bad ???

That's something I've not done for obvious reasons

I did see there is a diagonal sliding technique that some use, but that just looks like a disaster waiting to happen or perhaps the molenater stroke that would take care of any stray moles you might have.

I do use the the Gillette slide often. It’s pretty effective, you just have to be a little more careful than normal.

Every have one of those nights that you slept all night but it sure didn't feel like it when you woke up? That was my morning, but the days of reverting to a cart shave are gone so I set up a good shave and got to it after my shower.

After a nice lather, I set my razor at 3.5 and got to the first pass. I did long strokes from the top of my face down to the bottom of my neck. I really don't feel they are as effective as my previous shorter strokes. I feel it leaves a lot there, but stuck with the long strokes with the second pass. I think they work well for the second pass. For the 3rd pass I set the razor at 2.5 and did long strokes ATG on the neck and J'ing toward the ear as I passed the jawline. This was interesting. It seemed more comfortable than continuing straight up so I just went with it. I did moderate clean-up for about 1 minute on a razor setting of 1.5. I'm still using a cart to do the upper lip. It's the only thing that gives me a good shave without irritation. I have no clue how to figure that puzzle out, so I pressed the easy button on it and the shave is much more enjoyable. I've tried all the different angles and ways of shaving the upper lip, but the Variant irritates it. Even the SS will irritate it if I'm not careful.

I have two young kids. Every morning if like that lol

Hey, I understand. We lived through twins and that was pretty tough. Sometimes when it was just me and I had two babies screaming their heads off, I'd literally have to put one in the crib and walk away while I got the other one calmed down enough so I could deal with the poor baby in the crib. Ahhh, fun times and glad our twins are older now.
