I know this is supposed to be mostly just funny pics But.....
Some things not known about Scotty....
Doohan — a pilot and captain in the Royal Candian Artillery Regiment — was machine-gunned, taking six hits.
One bullet blew off his middle right finger, four struck his leg and one hit him in the chest. The shooter was not a German sniper: in fact, Doohan had been shot by a nervous, trigger-happy Canadian sentry. Fortunately, the cigarette case stopped the bullet that hit his chest. Doohan later joked it was the only time being a smoker saved his life...
Later on in life he actually saved a star trek fans life ...
He heard about a troubled female fan and called her and in his own words , " I said, ‘Hey, this is Jimmy Doohan. Scotty of
Star Trek. I’m doing a convention in Indianapolis, and I want to see you there.'” he explained. “I saw her. Boy, I’m telling you — I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was definitely suicide. Somebody had to help her, somehow. And, obviously, she wasn’t going to the right people.”
Doohan told the woman about each surrounding area convention (and some in nearby states) that he would be at and said he wanted to see her at each.
“That went on for two or three years, maybe 18 times,” he said. “And all I did was talk positive things to her. And then all of a sudden — nothing. I didn’t hear anything, and I had no idea what was really happening to her because I never really saved her address. Eight years later, I get a letter saying, ‘I do want to thank you so much for what you did for me, I just got my master’s degree in electronic engineering.'”
At one point Silver Screen bottling company put out the Montgomery Scott Scotch Whisky...
Lastly Jimmy Doohan was a Very funny man. I actually had the pleasure to have known the fine gentleman and I remember sitting down with him in a bar one time drinking scotch whisky and fans of his character would come up for pics and he was always very nice and took pics with them.. He had a preference for when female fans would come up to have them sit on his lap / knee... He was a very fun and nice person to know...
