@JanJosh and his post yesterday made me want to use Clubman today. This scent always takes me back to my childhood and the local barber shop my dad would take me and my brother to.
Brut Aftershave today. Strange for a brand that's so keen on being macho and masculine, it's actually pretty... dainty. I'm not saying it's feminine, at least this current formulation, but it doesn't strike me as something raw and "for men only". In fact... it kinda smells like dryer sheets.
From all the classic fragrances, this one was kinda disappointing. My grandpa was a fan of this stuff in the 80s, and now I have to ask how he wasn't into Mennen, Aqua Velva, or Old Spice.
This stuff is pretty nice, surprisingly not much alcohol which is a refreshing splash initially, but @Spider was correct in that Bay Rum (or the oil used) does well to warm the face. My face isn't swelling or rosy but my cheeks do feel quite warm. Perfect for this cold florida day!
I will admit it smells pretty good too, and may be amongst the better Bay rum scents I've encountered. I've learned that I genuinely like the smell of Bay rum and Bay laurel but I don't like the other spices mixed in. This has other spices, leading to a smokey and almost maple-like woody smell, but you can pick out the Bay Rum smell underneath instead of it being drowned by nutmeg, cinnamon, and/or clove. Bravo!
