6th "Annual" February "One Blade" Challenge!

Another shave on the weck. Mowed through a few days growth with no issues. I'm pretty impressed with these blades. Only "hair shaper" blade I've used so far that is on par with an artist club blade.

I am going to have to bow out in think. I really like the personna blade in the weck, but my skin is just too dry and miserable right now to keep using the weck.

Before anyone says use this or that moisturizer or whatever, it doesn't work. Nothing like that soaks into my skin for whatever cruel reason.
I have a bottle of seaforth I can't use that smells great. 15 minutes after I put it on I had to wash it back off. It has more glycerine than my skin will take.
My wife didn't believe me until I let her try putting lotion on my hands.

For some reason it's worse this year than it has been. As much as I'd love to keep using the weck, I just can't comfortably do it.

@ShawnF
Sorry to hear about your skin troubles this year. Does the blade work in any of your other (more gentle) razors?

@ShawnF don't give up on us completely. I understand if you're not able to continue with the weck, but what DE are you going to use now? Start over the one-blade challenge with your DE.

The weck is basically a straight razor. I don't have any other type of razor that takes that style blade.

That i can do. Last night I used my timeless with a Wizamet that had about 5 shaves on it. So I'll call it 6 now and keep with that.

Shave 10 today on the AccuTech Pro Gem blade.

Feeling good! So smooth and easy to use at this point.

Shave 8 this morning. Was a little tuggy first pass, but i let it go and extra day. Second pass was good.

Shave number 19 this morning and the blade is still delivering great shaves. Can tell it's lost a little of its sharpness but still no pulling or tugging detected.

I think I've missed 2 shaves, so 17 so far for me this month. No difference noted in my blade, but there rarely is.

I'm curious if anyone has ever tried any honing, stropping, glassing, or other methods to extend their blade life.

I did try palm stropping for a bit......but I stopped because I'm not sure it was improving the blade at all. Microscopically, maybe....but my face wasn't feeling a difference.

Never tried on a de blade. Always thought for one, they were too cheap and easy to replace it wasn't worth it, and for two, as easy as it is to mess up a straight razor edge with poor stropping that it would be easier to mess up something with no handle.

I will “strop” the Gem blades on some fabric before using them, but I’ve never tried to freshen up the edge that way once they are in use

I'm at 100+ on the Gillette Silver Blue and its in the sweet spot. Nice comfortable shaves...no weepers....no irritation.
