2020 Paradigm Diamondback

I shaved only twice with Diamondback 2020, but I can already say that this is a wonderful razor. Comfortable and efficient.
I plan use it daily with different blades for the next 2 weeks.

@ShaveMD @AJSharp Anyone able to make a comment on if the only difference from 2019 DB to 2020 DB is the finish. Do they shave the same ?

Scratch that. Frank relayed your thoughts Mark. Thank you for your help 👍

I found no difference in shave
For those in the future that may research this. I've learned that some 2019 have a different shave from over polish after being done by an outside source so it is dependent on the one you received and why Andy started doing the 2020 all himself.

Were there 2019 Diamondbacks that were sold without a polished finish?

I'm not positive. One I was considering had a more polished handle and the head was I forget if he said satin finish or something. It was sold and just resold by the buyer over on DFS @ShaveMD is more knowledgeable than me by far on them and who helped guide me to mine.

The original finish on the DB sold at West Coast shaving was designed as a machine brush finish, but when they were delayed in release the preorder people were offered a free polished finish. I can not say for a fact, but from my experience in using 2 different razors from that release, one shaved exactly like the one I bought this year from Andy and the other was fairly hash. In comparing the 2 from WCS the one that was harsh was over polished IMO on the baseplate so the edges that bent the razor blade were more rounded rather than a crisp angle.

Thanks Dave, the one you're talking is actually the reason I asked. I saw that it sold, then resold, and it made me curious.

Reading your thoughts on the Diamondback has made me very interested in trying one out.

Ok, I found one for sale and bit the bullet and purchased... may have paid a bit on the high side, but not sure what the market even is for these, nor do I know what the original purchase price was. Will report with impressions once it arrives...

I got the last one available from Paradigm for $240.

Four shaves in with the 2020 Diamondback, and so far I don't care for it. I'm not getting the smoothness that many have talked about with it. It's actually been pretty harsh shaves so far. I'm going to try some different blades and see how big a difference that makes.
