2020 Paradigm Diamondback

I think I got the last one. I ordered it successfully, and then the website listed it as sold out. I'm excited to try out this beautiful razor!

Congrats it’s a excellent razor and it has a great balance of both smoothness and efficiency.
The more I use it the more I’m really liking it.

Based on the reviews I ordered the DB which will my first Paradigm. It shipped today and should have before end of week. 4th premium razor....saving big bucks since switching over from carts - yeah I know. I never would have imagine that after shaving for about 40 years that I would enjoy it so much. Oy veh!

I'm very excited to get this razor! We'll have to compare notes.

I mentioned in my journal that I put a limited amount of confidence in a first-year review of a razor, but I thought I'd contribute my first impressions of the Diamondback, which arrived today. I'm going to use it for the next month, and then I might contribute a more substantial evaluation. Simply put, it gave me a great shave, one of the best I can recall. I love the weight and balance, and the blade feel was very comfortable, more so than my Envoy, which is my current favorite razor. The audio feedback did not ring, so I don't think there's any issues with resonance, and it is very smooth, even with a first-year Feather Hi-Stainless. I'm very happy with my purchase. Aesthetically, it's a beautiful tool. Finding the proper angle was a snap. I really have no complaints. Bravo to Paradigm. I consider myself fortunate to have gotten one.

Did my last Shave Off comparison between the Diamondback and Wolfman razors. This time it was the WR1 SS .94 DC vs the Diamondback and not to get into a long detailed review. I used two fresh Feather blades, Mike’s Natural Barbershop, a Timeless bowl and Acqua Di Parma Absoluta as the scent of the day. Used Thayers unscented not shown in the photo as a post shave splash. What I was most excited to try was a gift from my buddy Jason @smurfups77 that he sent me as a gift just because he wanted to. I’ve always wanted a Barberpole handled brush but just hadn’t pulled the trigger on one yet so honestly I was in shock an obviously surprised when Jason sent it to me. It’s a Wild West Shaving Company handle and a Declaration B9 B 26mm knot and it is a awesome brush and I’d like to publicly thank Jason for the thoughtful and generous gift!

So on to the Shave Off and this was an easy to read comparison. The WR1.94 DC which I only used the SB side had more blade feel than the DB especially on the 1st WTG pass on 3 days growth and even though it was smooth and a razor I’m very familiar with it wasn’t as smooth as the DB is and that is especially true on the 2nd ATG pass where the DB starts to exhibit its ghost blade feel where’s the WR1 maintains its blade feel which is more consistent throughout the entire Shave but it certainly doesn’t bother me at all. At the end of the 2 passes the 94 proved to be the more efficient and effective at taking down my 3 days growth and gave me a longer lasting BBS shave. So in conclusion I’d say the DB is a touch more efficient than the WR2 TI 1.25. Dead even with the WR2 TI 1.35 SB and not quite as efficient than WR1.94 SB but smoother than all 3 Wolfie’s I used in this Shave Off comparison and feel no need to match the DB with my WR2 Ti DC 1.45/1.55 SB as far as testing efficiency goes. I think that Paradigm hit one out of the ballpark with this Diamondback and it would definitely be the one I’d be grabbing if I was a daily shaver.

Nice Job Andrew. love the razor!

The handle design on the DB 2020 looks similar to an older Gillette model? German? I’m I way off here? Not really a DE expert. 1914?

My third shave with the Diamondback, this time on 2 days growth, and I'm in love. I've already chosen two other razors I'm going to sell to fund a brush purchase. I just don't see any reason to compromise any more. This razor is everything I want in a razor.
