Saturday morning’s delightful Grand Freeze:

Cool shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/new Super Platinum
Stirling Glacial Electric Sheep SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Osage Rub AS Splash

Did I ever freeze my face off this morning - the Glacial Electric Sheep is the first and only mutton tallow based Glacial soap. Its scent is the same awesome blend of lemon, citronella and eucalyptus, the lather is superb, the slickness is terrific, the menthol sensation is so powerful that it feels almost borderline painful, in a good way, of course!) and the post-shave feeling is so comfortable. The Gold Bond moisturizer works so well as a balm, and the Rubby Dubby Doo went on frigidly cold. (I’ll soon need another bottle!) The new Super Platinum blade helped ensure a perfect three pass BBS shave that I enjoyed immensely!

Wishing you all a great day - be well and stay safe!

Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Williams Mug Shave Soap
Jayaruh #425 Synthetic
Schick Krona
Astra SP Blade
CWR
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Brut After Shave

I started with the cold water rinse. The Williams lathered well with the Jayaruh #425. I did two passes with the Schick Krona razor with a Astra SP Blade. After a cold water rinse, I finished with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Brut After Shave. I am now clean, smooth, and refreshed.

Thanks for your post. I've I have the Feather AS-D2 and Feather Popular. I've toyed with the idea of purchasing the Feather adjustable TTO. How do you like it's features and performance?
Thanks for the question! I've been looking into the AS-D2 and WS-D2 myself. How's those feel?

In regards to the adjustable, it's pretty solid and can be quite interesting. There's a little switch under the head that on setting 1 makes the blade mild by having the blade platform move higher to hide the edge, while setting 2 lowers the platform to expose the blade more for an aggressive shave.

One small downside is that when shaving thicker stubble with thicker/dryer lathers, it can sometimes get stuck beneath the blade but doesn't really gunk up the razor. The weight and handle are great also, a slight bit heavier than the Popular, and the grip is quite natural feeling, but with the deeper ridges, soap and water can get caught and this could mess with your grip, needing semi-constant drying and cleaning during the shave.

Overall, a fine tool and good for quick shifts during shaves. I like to start my first pass with setting 2 when I take short shave break, then the second pass + Touch ups with setting 1. If I'm able to shave daily, one decent setting 1 pass + necessary touch ups are fine. Only thing I feel is it might be more delicate than some razors and I feel the potential of breaking higher than most, even compared to the simpler Popular.

I appreciate your answer. The Popular and the AS-D2 are both on the mild side. The Popular is is mostly plastic and much lighter than the stainless steel AS-D2. Between the two, I find the AS-D2 more efficient and pleasurable to use. I get best results using a Feather, KAI, or one of the other sharper blades. I like the Popular for one of those 'in a hurry' shaves. I don't remember ever having a nick from either one. I seem to achieve smoother finishes with the AS-D2.

I have the popular myself and I like it as well. It was technically my third DE but in my heart it's my first, first to truly be used and first I learned how to use and enjoy shaving with, and for that, I feel that if mine just breaks or gives out I'll always have it replaced for its significance and simplicity.

Anyway, great chat! Thanks for the info and I'm glad to give you some of my own. If you're interested in getting the Adjustable any time soon to try, I got mine online at New England Shaving Company. If I remember correctly it was 38 bucks and I had a new member promo code. Came quick in good packaging too!
