Busy weekend. Garage door is painted. Shopped at several places for a run including Ikea which I negotiated including a meatball lunch into that trip. Went out to an Italian dinner Saturday night followed by a stop at a small batch gelato shop. Weird end to the weekend. The oldest came over to wash her truck because we have the power foam cannon and when the garage door was going down when she was leaving, from inside of the house I hear a heavy piece of metal hit the garage floor as though it had some velocity to it. Found a bolt with an odd square end as opposed to an actual head on it laying on the ground behind my car. Got out the flashlight and went over every bracket and wheel of the garage door and opener more than once and couldn't find a single piece of hardware that had the same end to it or a hole that looked like it was missing something. Very odd indeed.

Ah....the portal we installed in your home sounds like its active now. I only tossed that in as a test 3 weeks ago. So we need to adjust the phlanging and the sporking so we can get instant delivery. We know you dislike waiting for your much needed objects. Please stand by....we are recalibrating. But maybe stand a bit farther to the left. Just in case. Oh....and Dave tossed a few arizona critters in.....keep an eye out for them.

Keep your fingers crossed that Dave throws in a hallucinogenic toad or two! 🤞

So many ups and downs in the last day. My wife has had some symptoms I thought she needed to talk to her doc about. She did, he said go to the ED, I said that doesn't make sense the problem is with this, go to the ED to be told the same thing by someone who is getting paid more than myself. So good news it's just annoying not concerning.

On the way to the hospital, the car decided to make a lane change at what I thought was an odd time, just for us to find out a second later there was an ambulance coming with its lights on as the Tesla pulled all the way to the side of the road. Good car. Increased response to emergency vehicles was in the update I got over the weekend. Still very cool to have cars that get features added as you own them instead of just get old. They say something upcoming is better avoidance of potholes. Looking forward to that one!

But then lastly, driving home, the sun hit the back window just right so I saw a crack several feet long. That bolt thing obviously smacked my car on the way down to the garage floor. I can't imagine that's going to be cheap to replace as it goes half way up the roof. What even is this thing??

That bolt could have come from that j arm that pulls the door open/shut. Also possibly from the frame where it connects to the hanger from the ceiling. While it’s possible it shot sideways to hit your window (garage doors have a secret war against Tesla) it is more likely it fell straight down…so look above where your rear window was

I think Chris is on to something. I seem to recall my garage door opener had several bolts in it that looked similar. I'm guessing you're missing one or you had an extra one on there that worked its way loose.

Bummer about the window. Where's the self-fixing window update on your fancy hive-mind car?

Ya, I'll take another look. I did a cursory look at the track and mount, but focused mostly on the door and spring area.
