SOTD April 2026

Saturday morning’s Blue Shave:

Hot shower
Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 14 (last day)
Wilkinson Sword SS
Proraso Blue ASB
Stirling Island Man AS Splash

To be honest this Wilkinson soap is as about as useful as a screen door on a submarine - the only really nice thing about it is the scent. The lather is good but I find it requires a lot of effort to get it where I want it, and it’s kind of crummy in the skincare department but the Proraso Blue balm helped me a lot. Finally the lovely Stirling Island Man aftershave and that’s it that’s all. This Perma Sharp blade is at the end of the road but I must say that it gave me one last hoorah with a great three pass BBS shave so no complaints overall!

Wishing you all a good day - be well and stay safe!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Great shave this morning. Returned to Fine Accoutrements and their excellent "Platinum" shave soap & splash. Wonderful Creed Aventus scent with exceptional lather from the original formula built with the Aylsworth synth for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed Thayers unscented witch hazel and the matching aftershave lotion.

Hope you have a great day. :)

Ah yes. I remember going through a container like that of the same soap. I was glad when it was done with. Thanks for your post.

Lather Catcher Sunday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Nivea Shave Cream
Jayaruh #199 Synthetic
Ever-Ready Lather Catcher
Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Nivea After Shave Balm

The Nivea Shave Cream face-lathered well with Jayaruh #199 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Ever-Ready Lather Catcher razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Nivea After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Sunday morning:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/new 7 O’Clock
Delmy SS
Prep ASB
Booster Polar Ice AS Splash

These 7 O’Clocks are such fantastic blades - not only are they very sharp, they’re also very forgiving especially when I use them in my cherished 50s Super Speed. This Delmy soap is from India and it’s probably the CHEAPEST shaving item on this planet - it costs perhaps 25 cents so even a man on an ultra tight budget can afford it. Despite its small size it gives huge performance - it has a beautiful old school barbershop scent, I find the best way to use it is to wet it and rub it all over my face and neck like a stick, a moderately wet brush makes the lather explode, it’s surprisingly slick, and the post-shave feeling is fairly comfortable. The Prep balm delivered very generously on the soothing and moisturizing not to mention how wonderful the Polar Ice felt when I slapped it on - its scent is identical to the Delmy soap. Three passes with the new 7 O’Clock blade gave me an awesome BBS shave that was so much fun!

Wishing you all a great Sunday - be well and stay safe!
