SOTD April 2026

Friday morning’s Lethal Grand Freeze:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 13*
Stirling Glacial Spearmint SS
Stirling Glacial Spearmint ASB
MSC Frosted Spearmint AS Spray

*I made a little boo boo yesterday because it was my 12th day with this Perma Sharp blade - as a general rule I always change the blade after the 14th day. 😊😊

This was one of the COLDEST shaves I’ve had in a while - the Glacial Spearmint soap’s delicious scent filled the bathroom, my face was buried under thick, rich, super slick, FRIGID lather, and the post-shave feeling was so wonderful like ALL of Rod’s soaps - he’s another master artisan. The Glacial Spearmint balm is also chock full of menthol not to mention how soothing it is, and Fernando’s Frosted Spearmint aftershave has the same amazing scent as Rod’s version with enough menthol to give a polar bear double pneumonia. I had a dynamite three pass BBS shave but I may have to scrap this blade because I had to struggle a little on the third pass - my stubble in really tough!

Wishing you all a great weekend - be well and stay safe!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

A fantastic shave with which to close out the workweek. Returned my vintage Shulton suite of products. Fantabulous Old School scent with exceptional lather built with the Simpson Manchurian badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed Thayers unscented witch hazel and the matching aftershave lotion, talc & EdC.

Hope you have a great day. :)

Great shave today. 2 days of growth removed with the Rockwell 6s on plate 3. Stirling Lime is such a nice subtle scent. It easily whipped up into a nice lather in HC&C bowl with the CB Brushworks/28mm G5C. BBS finish.

Great shave Akhi!

Shabbat Shalom!

Jeff

Thanks so much Akhi!

Since the time when I arrived here in Canada I loved Old Spice. Then again it was the Shulton version which made it famous - not the P&G dreck (crap) that’s sold now. I remember telling my father-in-law that it’s not worth two cents now!

My day was really good - I got a phone call from my cousin of mine in Israel telling me that he and the family are fine. Baruch HaShem!

Jeff
I understand that the original Shulton OS is what you love. The "New & Improved" of so many products has the exact opposite affect on said products and we stop using them.

I'm glad to hear that your family in Israel is doing well during this war. My wife communicated with some her family also. They are good too.

Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Nivea Shave Cream
Jayaruh #199 Synthetic
GEM Damaskeene
Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Nivea After Shave Balm

The Nivea Shave Cream face-lathered well with Jayaruh #199 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the GEM Damaskeene razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Nivea After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Razor: Merkur 34G
Blade: Shaverboy SS (2)
Brush: Whipped Dog White Mountain Silvertip 24/57

Shave Soap: The Gentleman's Groom Room Essence of Scotland Scottish Heather (glycerin based)

Post: ūgen Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera
EPSILON Scottish Spirit After Shave

I'm not much of a fan of the Shaverboy SS blades. I'm glad I only purchased a few to try.
The rest of the shave was great. Three passes and no nicks or weepers or razor burn.
Everyone be safe and have a wonderful day 😀
