SOTD April 2026

Thursday morning:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 11
Cella SS
Lubriderm Moisturizer
Brut Oceans AS Splash

What a beautiful Seder we had last night - did we ever stuff our faces - my wonderful mother-in-law is such a fabulous cook. This morning I got up a bit later than usual so after my shower I grabbed the Cella soap and I enjoyed its lovely raw almond scent, the lather was terrific, it was so slick, and it gave my skin a great soothing feeling that the Lubriderm moisturizer enhanced. Finally the Brut Oceans aftershave which smells really nice - even my wife says she likes the scent. Three passes gave me a super duper BBS shave that was so much fun. Tonight’s Seder is at my house!

Wishing you all a great day - be well and stay safe!

Friday morning:

Hot shower
Frank Mini Synthetic
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 12
Brutalt Bra SS
Lubriderm Moisturizer
Booster Lime Ice AS Splash
Amatoury 114 Lemon Cologne

This Frank mini synthetic is such a cute little brush and it performs great - if you’ll notice it has a Canadian flag on it and an Israeli one. It was sent to me by a friend of mine along with a Canadian Tech razor a couple of years ago. The Brutalt Bra is a lovely soap from Norway with a very nice lavender scent, it’s a pleasure to lather, and it gives a really comfortable, soothing postshave feeling. The Lubriderm moisturizer felt great, the Booster Lime Ice has no menthol but it still feels quite cooling, and its scent is so old school barbershoppy - do I ever love it. Finally the 114 cologne from Lebanon which smells delightfully refreshing and I’m all set for another day of relaxing retirement. Three passes left me almost as smooth as my wife and daughter - what a great shave this was!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend - be well and stay safe!

Awesome shave Lantzman! I love that brush! Thank you for sharing the backstory!

3 April, 2026

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Wonderful shave this morning! New soap day with the arrival yesterday of ETHOS Grooming Essentials "Break the Chains" shave soap & splash. A wonderfully bright, effervescent lemon verbena scent with exceptional lather built with the Simpson badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by the matching skin food splash. This is a fantastic soap but there was some irritation / burning noted with the splash. Not a deal breaker, but I may try diluting it on the next use.

Hope you have a great day. :)

A new scent to me: Porthos from WTF. I only glanced at the sales description of the scent and thought, Spring soap. Unfortunately when it arrived and I opened it up, all I got was a strong aroma of fir/pine. Not a bad scent, but a scent profile I reserve for winter. I was fearing I had made a poor purchase decision, especially since I have plenty of pine forward scents, including Don't Christmas offering "Santa's Helper" from this past Christmas. My first pass after whipping up the lather, and I was still getting nothing but Pine. My fear was almost full on panic. Second pass, noticed a change in the aroma, as the pine seemed to dissipate. Third pass was glorious, fresh grass and citrus. Really refreshing in a way you don't get from pine. My cleanup was just as good. Now came the moment of truth, the aftershave. I opened the bottle, poured some in my hands and applied. No pine, at least nothing more than a negligible player in the backround. Straight up grass clippings and citrus. Really nice, and ultra relieved about my purchase. It's going straight into my Spring soap collection, which is severely lagging behind my other collections of seasonal soaps. A great addition!!
