The Vintage Shaving Soap Appreciation Thread

I’m reading a work of historical fiction set in NY in the 1880s and a character was described as having “hard smells of Macassar oil and walnut military shaving soap”

So I looked into it and apparently there was such a soap. “Vroom & Fowler’s walnut oil Military Shaving Soap”

Anybody ever seen this stuff?

That is soooooo cool! Now I’m hunting for it! Never heard of it before!

How is the Avon soap? That's one bowl I've never found.
I love it. Great lather in the past but today it was simply magnificent. Not sure what I did differently, or if the shaving gods were involved, but today's lather was nigh vintage Yardley level.
