Trials of a woodpusher: Adventures in chess, backyard gardening, and maybe whisker chopping

Another wet and dreary morning here again, but no major complaints from me as the veggie garden seem to be just loving it.

We're meeting up with our walking buddies for lunch instead of walking, but we might walk if things clear up. Either way, it's good to spend time with them in any way, shape or form. Meal prep was a shower and shave, so I think I am good to go!

Up and out the door early this morning (well, relatively speaking) to put the car in for regular maintenance service. Saturdays are their first-come-first-serve day with no appointments, versus the almost standard 3-week wait if you book a appointment Mon-Fri. This was just a regular oil change and such, so the damage wasn't overly much.

A coffee when I got home and then a nice and simple shave, marking what I think is then end of my Wilkinson Sword blades. On to some SuperMax Plats next!

An afternoon shave today, as I waited until the last load was in the dryer before taking on the task of whisker removal. First shave with the SuperMax Blue Diamond (I mistakenly called them Platinums yesterday) went well enough. My scruff was removed and the blade was both smooth and sharp enough to do the trick without issue. In other words, meh.

In other news, it FINALLY looks like a day without rain! Woot!

Well, it turns out we did get a few light showers yesterday, so it wasn't a rain-free day after all. But that's okay as I stayed indoors!

This morning saw me take a guardless clipper buzz and what turned out to be my last shave with the Musgo Real Lime Basil cream. Overall, Musgo Real is pretty good but not at the price that the creams seem to go for these days. Up next will be a partial tube of Proraso Green, which turns out to have a tiny whole in the now-rolled-up section of the tube by the end-crimp.

You’ve got me thinking that I should use up the tube of cream I have. It’s decent stuff, but it’s cluttering up my shaving den. I can’t be a minimalist with clutter. 😎

Oh my! I checked my 3017 log and it was back in May 2013 that I last used Proraso Green, making it a dozen years gone by. As soon as I started face lathering, I was hit with the cooling mentholated eucalyptus and said to myself that I need to use this more often.... and I will! Well, at least for the next ~2 months anyways! LOL

A nice shave after visiting the doctor and it turns out that my elbow pain for the past few months is simple tennis elbow. I said that I don't play tennis and she said that golfers also get it. After saying I don't play golf, I suggested "dishwasher's elbow," which got a laugh. Always leave 'em laughing!

Another nice and simple, refreshing shave with Proraso again this morning to kick off this fine Wednesday.

Given we fly out for vacation on Saturday, I probably should begin to gather my stuff. Both my wife and I are quite comfortable with each of us using a carry-on and personal item(for underseat) being enough space to last us for 2+ weeks on the road.

Anne Frank House. You will be stunned and you will learn a bunch. Very odd sensation to stand in the actual rooms. Make sure to look out the window upstairs. Its odd seeing the exact same view she had while watching homes get raided across the canal.

OMG! I shaved before the markets opened this morning! Whazzupwitda???? In any event, another coffee is just about ready and I am all prepped for the final day of afternoon bridge and evening chess before vacation. Wheee!
