Quite possibly my favorite DM tune. Long story to follow...
My Prog Metal / Symphonic Metal band Lychesis, while we were recording songs for our album, we'd often discuss what kind of covers we'd want to play at the release party. Prog Metal is a genre that not many, let's call them "ordinary" people, listen to. After much deliberation, we decided that should we ever get to the point of playing live, we'd each pick songs that were inspirational to us as individual musicians. "Walking in My Shoes" was one of my picks. Specifically, I wanted to pattern our version after the live version from 1993.
Sadly, it never came to fruition. However, we did play this song numerous times in our rehearsal studio.
There are some songs that on the first note capture the essence of early 80's music. This IMO is one of them!
I agree with that assessment as does the level 42 songs lessons in love and something about you as well.....
To ammend my above post those two may be more of the vibe of the mid / later 80's than the early 80's
