Well I post this seeking the help of the Watch lords... what's needed:
A watch that might make it a whole season of football, and not shatter to a 1000 pieces when I inadvertently smack it on a helmet when trying to kill the clock. Watch also MUST be capable of keeping track of 40 second count down for those times when the field clocks go bad.
I have been eyeballing this as I really like the all black look.
Thoughts from the watch gods?

For what you are looking for any of the Casio G-shocks are good and at good price points You may want to look for a Solar charging model so not battery issues. Be advised however that the lower end models are also a resin Strap and those can dry out, snap, or break very easy, Look for a Rubber, or better yet Silicone Banded G Shock
Also any of the Timex Expedition Watches on Amazon as well

That is nice looking but I'm not seeing a start and stop for the 40 sec.
you are correct this does not have a stop watch.

Well for that price point on the G shocks they are somewhat like a throw away watch, use, break, replace. The Mudman is higher end and will last, also Luminox, Marathon and even MTM are tough ones as well, but at a significantly higher price pointI broke one like this last year

That is the one I was thinking of as well,but could not remember the name.
Broke one of those two or three years ago.
Also so many partners have broken apple watches or samsung watches. Most people have just started using cheap $15 watches from wal-mart. That might be the answer here.
No dude, the answer isn't getting a sissy ole $100 g-shock. The mud master line starts around $350 price point and will look like you have a big pair of cajones and last for years.

I mean nothing being put through the wringer regularly is going to last super long. It’s just weighing and balancing price, how long it might last, and functions you’re looking for.
This is another one maybe to look at.
I wore this watch for 20 years. I worked in Construction it took everything I threw at it.
