I think we're all going to be in hotspots very soon.
People getting too relaxed before enough are vaccinated. This area of PA was headed down sharply and now back up she goes. Peak 4 on our continuous wave.

Governor just announce that anyone over 16 will be eligible starting the end of next week.

I read that even though places are having up ticks that hospitalizations and deaths are down. That more younger people are getting it without the worst of the effects. @NurseDave are you seeing this out your way?

Our numbers are going up slowly, and it's more the middle-aged folks in the hospital. Likely because the elderly were in the first wave and vaccinated already.

It’s a race against the variants. Keep the faith everyone. The 100% effectiveness that Pfizer had in the 12-16 year olds is phenomenal. That’s smallpox-level immunity. I have hope for the schools in the fall.

I saw on the news Georgia has horrible numbers but according to the news their governor is lifting all restrictions this weekend.. I'm sorry but that's crazy ..IMO...

I haven't posted here in a while, just for my won sanity.
Finland is bungling things in a massive way. IMO, every culture has their way of doing things well, as well as doing a botch job. Here it's endless debates and no decisive action.

Like everywhere, we're on the '3rd wave' numbers are up, supposedly better than other countries, but still records are being broken regularly.
After weeks of debate, some sort of regional lockdown plan was agreed on and enacted, only to be immediately turned over by another regulatory branch of gov't because the plan was unconstitutional. Essentially they couldn't agree on anything, so just poorly worded the lockdown to be ambiguous.

Now the entire gov't is on holiday. Easter is one of the major mult-day holidays here, where people traditionally go on skiing holidays. So our gyms are closed, but transport is packed, and people are going on holiday, yet can't get a haircut.

What really has me personally up in a dander is that my wife is going to have to go to Lapland herself, her job requires it. Last week she got a ping on the contact tracing app, had to get tested, thankfully negative. Who knows what this trip will bring home. My stress levels are out the window now.

And of course the whole EU has totally botched the vaccine, and Finland can't even decide if it should prioritize the populated part of the country where 90% of the cases are or not, so the upshot is at 58 years old with asthma, I have no idea when I'll get a jab, or what one it will be.

Sorry for the rant, it's just been percolating for a while here.

Sorry to hear that Cole.. Also DONT be sorry for the venting , I believe thats one of the reasons for this thread is to also be able to talk about our fears with each other ( and rant). I hope everything works out for you guys.

I think mary jane will be legal in Virginia before i get called for my vax shot that i am on a work and community list for.

In a surprising turn of events, it looks like our county is opening up vaccine appointments to most everyone soon and I was able to get my first dose yesterday and have my second dose on the books in 3 weeks. Pretty sure we'd be the first collar county of Chicago to do so, and I've heard terrible things from friends who still live in the city that are eligible under current phases but not able to find anything. Counting ourselves extremely blessed.

Arm is sore, but no worse than the regular season flu vaccine, or at least the years where I'm sore after since it seems to vary a little bit year to year. No other symptoms yet but know the second dose is usually the more rough one from an immune response perspective.

Received my first dose today—just got lucky in finding an appointment on the west side of Michigan (30s with no medical issues). Got it at our main vaccine center, which is set up at the largest conversion center in GR. Pretty impressive on the organization and the amount of folks moving through. Second shot scheduled in three weeks.

You know something I don't understand , Why haven't our communities utilized places like the closed sears stores and other places shut down and use them as vaccination centers.. I mean the building owners would get a tax write off for donating the use of the buildings and it would also keep them in use so the buildings wouldn't deteriorate from lack of use....

glad you got it...

Our county is using an old Toys R Us as one of the vaccine centers - when I logged into the scheduling website it literally had "Toys R Us" as a choice. I had a chuckle.

Ha Ha you two... But honestly I was serious.. In some places there is a shortage of vaccination locations but there are all these empty places that could be utilized..... I mean think of how many people you could vaccinate.
That would only be if they have the vaccine to support it. We can't get enough here.
